suggestion: add a hide tail option to the character window)

seriously lets be real here. there should be an option to hide your tail in the character/equipment window for characters who have them.
you may be thinking "what? why?"
    the answer is simple.
sometimes you just want to wear some sort of crazy costume (chocobo suit for example) and not look like you're in the middle of pooping a giant cat or lizard.
also they don't always work well with every piece of equipment.which how much and where they clip.
heck even if it takes a glamour prism to do/set up for glamour plates i'd be all good with that.

On the one hand I don't think they can just add the option (since they don't seem able to update character customisation at all) *BUT* I think it's actually already connected to individual costumes rather than the character settings. It's not used much, but there's the Evenstar Coat - whether you appreciate its approach or not, it's clearly deactivating the normal tail with the replacement built into the outfit.

There's also the Exarch, who programming-wise is a standard Miqo'te NPC but doesn't have a visible tail, so I would guess that his robes have the same effect of making it not display. And Yugiri in her earliest masked appearance is also a Miqo'te with the tail replaced by an Auri tail, so perhaps that is achieved through the same method?

If I'm speculating correctly and they can indeed link tail visibility to costumes, maybe they just need to do more of that where it's appropriate.

Err... no. If you don't like your tail chose another race. Easy.

Fun fact: Hrothgar tails actually disappear with the Evenstar coat equipped - no tail boner for us!

While I do agree it's largely redundant, I have to also give validity to the claim that sometimes a tail does kinda kill the glamour and would be better without it, namely with the animal costumes. I mean, just look at it

so apparently the only option that doesn't "stress the newbies" is either pressing 1211111111, or do nothing at all.

I'd prefer it if for things like the chocobo suits they hide the tails for those special outfits only instead of letting the races with tails hide it for all gear. ... But why hide the tail anyway if you already wear a really goofy costume? Having a tail doesn't really make it any less goofy.

Oh, I always thought his Exarch model is based on a Hyur, because he has those default Hyur animations.

I really hate the "choose another race" option as backlash to any sort of criticism. I don't see an issue with it if it was a simple toggle, like there already are with hats/helmets. I personally would also like for there to be a bobtail option for Mi'qote in character creator, since so far it only exists for Mi'qote children. But I'd be getting off-topic here.

Miqo'te and Au Ra require their tail for balance. You can't just take it away at your leisure. It's part of you.
There's already a costume or two where it tucks the tail inside and it's the worst.

I can't comment on the animations from memory, though I don't remember him doing anything I recognised as a Hyur emote, but it's possible they just used custom animations for him like they did for Emet-Selch. (I didn't even realise until I looked up the character data that Emet uses an Elezen base - kind of obvious in hindsight from the proportions, but he doesn't pose like one and I don't think he used any of their standard emotes. Not the obvious ones anyway.)

Anyway, the Exarch is definitely a Miqo'te NPC even if you can't see it. You can look up his character data to confirm it (spoiler), and none of the other human-proportioned male character models are that short.

That would be awesome, especially when wearing things like the AF3 set. Sure, i could select a different race, saddly, most of those other races have lame *ss emote animations, awful head/body proportions, or are Lalafell (just joking on this one XD). So.... yeah, it's not that simple
