How many MSQs to be able to play as Dark Knight? :(

I wanted to be able to play as Dark Knight asap.
So i am now 50 with a Warrior and I am not so sure what exactly i need to do now.

At MSQ, i am at "A Hero in Need" and i know that i need to get to "Before the Dawn".
Before the Dawn is part of 2.55. Do i have to finish all quests in 2.1, 2.2, 2.3,.. and so on?
I refer to this list here: ttps://ffxiv.consolegameswiki.com/wiki/Seventh_Astral_Era_Quests

This looks like a really long list for me.. if the answer is yes.. how many days do i need for that? I am kind of burned out again after doing the MSQs..

You need to finish all of the 2.x MSQ - and no, you can't skip parts of it now or later, and enter the city of Ishgard before you can pick up the Dark Knight job (or the Astrologian or Machinist jobs).
Gating access to DRK, AST, and MCH behind access to Ishgard was not one of the smarter decisions SE have made, but it is what it is.

How many days it takes depends in no small part on how much you play each day.
If you are feeling burned out - slow down, take a break. Don't try to just rush through the MSQ, that will only contribute to burned out feelings.

Yes. You need to finish ALL of the 2.x MSQ before you can move in into HW and unlock DRK. You're still a long ways away at this point.

Unfortunately, you can actually unlock Stormblood classes before HW classes as SB classes are just level gated, while HW classes are progress gated too.

For $11 USD you can buy a skip for the rest of the Realm Reborn Story Line.

Personally I liked the story, but intensely disliked how that story was converted into quests. You can google descriptions of the story and plot for each expansion.

The MSQ does offer some explicit rewards:
    1. Great XP. Probably the fastest way to level
    2. Decent Gil.

So a quick search says that "A Hero is Need" is the 4th to last quest of the 2.0 story. The most recent update trimmed some of the upcoming quests, so that would put you roughly 84 quests from entering the city of Ishgard and unlocking Dark Knight(and astrologian and machinist if you decide). That sounds like a lot. We can break it down. You have two dungeons, two full party dungeons, 3 alliance dungeons, 9 trials, and a handful of small solo fights - plus the story beats wrapping up the current tale and working its way toward the gates of Ishgard. So how long does all that take? Depending on que times(as a tank, these should be short) and how fast you read thats 6-12 hours roughly. But if you are feeling kinda burned out, i wouldnt recommend doing a hard push.

What i would advise is to finish the 4 quests of ARR. You have a date with an Ultima Weapon, Gaius, and Lahabrea - best not keep them waiting too long. For some people, that climax of the ARR story serves to re-energize them. If this is you, then push at least a ways into the 2.x quests(the more you do, the less you have left to do). If reaching this conclusion doesnt help with the burn out, then put the story on the back burner for a little bit. Beating 2.0 means that a bunch of optional content becomes available to you to do all at once. Someone whos engaged is advised to skip a lot of this and come back later, someone who needs a change might enjoy some optional dungeons/trials/side quests. Doing some Hildy(comedy side quest series), trying out being a post moogle(world building/comedy sidequest series), maybe doing some fates for a Yokai weapon/mount(limited event currently running), testing out PvP, starting a relic weapon(excellent glamour), or even just bumming around the casino and playing cards/racing birds.

If you do the "slow down" route, i also advise immediately taking the quests for the parts of the story that you can do whenever but need to finish before you can move on. This is the re-fights with Ifrit Garuda and Titan(same basic fights, but scaled up to 8 man since all trials moving forward are 8 man - the quests start in the waking sands) and the Crystal Tower series(starts with the "Legacy of Allag" in mor dhona, leads to the 3 alliance dungeons). All of those need to be completed before you can finish the 2.5 quests, but you can do them as early as you want so put them on your radar right away. Beyond that, doing a few quests whenever you log on doesnt hurt. It seems like a long list, but every little bit you whittle away is a bit in your rearview mirror. How many quests did you to do get to this point? Easily twice as many and without a clear goal in sight. You can do this!

I went through the same crap with MCH back in the day when the job wasnt lobotomized.

The MSQ got trimmed and shouldnt take too long to get to "Before the Dawn" no other classes exist anymore so it starts at 30 like every other job while SB jobs start at 50 and for the dummest reasons SHB start at 60 which arent Progression gated so you can over level to 60 to get them but makes those jobs bad as most of the instances shrinks ur tool kit up until the climax.

They start at Lv60 for the same reason the Stormblood jobs start at Lv50: it's the starting point of the previous expansion's level range. It's set with the intent that those picking it up are at what used to be max level (so Lv70 at the release of ShB) and potentially wanting to pick up the new job to play through the Lv70-80 MSQ with it. So the starting level is set not too far below that.

You can overlevel to collect them quite early in MSQ, but that's not what the levelling plan is built around. And "overlevelling then being forced down again" happens on every job anyway.

It's so players don't enter the new expansion on a class they know nothing about. 10 levels (20 in the case of HW classes, but they go faster) theoretically gives the player enough time to know the basic ins and outs of their class before they start tackling new content with everyone else.
