    I was actually having a discussion about this concept with some friends the other day, each time it gets brought up here though people remind us that the devs hated the issues they had with branching jobs from arcanist and that they won't ever do it again unfortunately. I'd personally love this so that we could get more mileage and variety from the classes (this wouldn't work for jobs that don't have a "simpler" class to pull from) and could potentially see different versions of classes in different roles. Yes this would be quite the undertaking but it's all a question of money and effort in the end and we all know that the former is not in high supply despite this game being a cash cow.

    As an aside, corsair in XI was a damage dealer with support options (much like XIV's ranged classes with the eventual exception of mch) that would use its cards to give various buffs to the party.

    And on the topic of puppetmaster, I would love to see them migrate over to Eorzea as well what with the mammets that are common to the world but after their struggles with smn I don't think they have the chops to make it work in a satisfying way and we'll most likely see PUP as another limited job if we see it at all sadly. As for rune knight, your description fits closely with the rune fencer job that is also in XI where it tanks and uses elemental runes to raise resistances and get special bonuses as well as protect the party. I could see it being adapted to a DPS in XIV but it might step on the toes of pld perhaps or feel too samey by being another sword wielder.
