Final Fantasy is a huge series with a rich history to draw from. Some parts of FFXI worked, others arguably did not, or at least are less than desirable. Regardless, most, FFXI events do not feel like break-neck rushes from the get go, and those that did, did not boil down to running through packs of enemies and making them disappear via panels on the ground.

Regardless, I was referring to the rest of the series. And to be perfectly clear, the bits of FFXI that felt the most quintessentially Final Fantasy were not bits like the raids, but segments like CoP missions, which for the most part, did not involve time pressure.

People want the option to relax.

Not to mention gating loot behind a time trial compounds the problem that every MMO experiences. Players without experience in a dungeon have no chance to learn without causing the rest of the group to suffer.
