I dont really care about stats on gear unique traits on gear, i find those more of an annoyance than anything really.

Im sorry but i could not disagree more.
Jobs have less buttons now than we had in HW. Infact, jobs like WAR and MCH have LESS buttons than they did in stormblood! MCH has something in the area of TEN less abilities than every other job in the game, WAR has 1-2 less buttons than every other DOW job excluding MCH to the point where i genuinely had empty spots on my highest priority and easiest to access hotbar.

Jumping from ARR to HW, they didnt remove ANY skills and you know what everyone did to get used to these extra buttons? They used the HUD editor given to us in game, changed our HUDs around and added some keybinds. It only took a day or two to get used to it. I dont see what is wrong with that at all.

That being said, i do think that some jobs (like tanks) should take notes from how PVP does combos, and just have the combos be 1-2 buttons, so 1 button for the whole souleater combo for example, pressing 1 button 3 times instead of 3 buttons 1 time each. That should solve the perceived "button bloat" problem that some people have for some reason, while cleaning up a bit AND allowing SE to expand upon jobs mechanics with extra skills and abilities, everyone wins.
