    Death/black metal started as Lofi played by a guy (Varg) in jail by what little they could get their hands on and in many many ways hasn't been trying to grow too far from its foundations.
    Technical death metal exists, but for the most part you're overgeneralizing and overselling the complexity for the sake of pushing your flawed metaphor.

    For example, in the 80's freaking Judas Priest was classified as Pop Music.
