Audio setting tweak, and bring back ALT+F4, no, hear me out new people.

After recently reinstalling there is few things interface wise that... I would like to be improved, if possible.

First is either a change or a self imposed toggle in some other setting that could go "always apply automatically" or something of those lines, for at least audio volume settings. I've for long time inserted shortcut to audio settings into my hotbar using it quickly to change volumes depending what I have open in background etc. But I usually do it in hurry and just close the window because the game changed the volume already, only reverting it if you close the window and keeping the setting if you click the separate apply button (or Triangle or Y on controller, luxury not afforded for mouse users)

If not changing this out right, at least a toggle somewhere to retain audio level settings without the apply button.

The other one is my sadness over ALT+F4 being lost. Now, new players, hear me out because it is not what it seems like. If you play PSO2 now, that it is finally out officially in West, you might want to try it in that game and see what it does - it has done it since launch in 2012. Final Fantasy XIV used to be the same until one of 2.X or 3.X patches changed it.
I am talking, "of course", about behavior where the ALT+F4 does not actually immediately close the game, but it would give you the "exit game y/N?" Prompt window that still exists if you just bind a close button to your hotbar.

    Now instead it does nothing.
Unless this was done so people can make ALT+F4 hotbar/UI binds, I would prefer this functionality to come back, I use the button a lot in my computing, so may others. The original was already a great compromise in my view over current input "block" and nothing. I still to this day use ALT+F4 as my most common way to close PSO2, that prompt will always be there to make sure I am in situation that I can quit from and double confirm my intentions.

... Is it because I once quit the game for a year by ALT+F4:ing in dungeon? I promise to never do it again I swear.

That is the answer why they did it.

People were weirded out that my miasma II was bound to 0 and how could I press it while running, to me having ALT+F-row binds is way bewieldering but... I am not to judge, my keybinds are crazy too.

Not sure why you'd want Alt+F, that's a lot of reaching, but I suppose if you really, REALLY need 48 button hotbars (I can't think of a single job that does), I suppose?

Not sure what you mean by the 0 key and running, 0 has nothing to do with running.

Anyhow, getting rid of Alt+F4 is also a nice blow to griefers and trolls who get unsuspecting players who are not used to PC gaming.

And besides, is it REALLY that hard to hit escape, click Exit Game?

I said I used to have crazy binds, enough that required pressing 0 somehow while pressing W and A to move. Try it yourself it's fun!

I am still used to the feature in PSO2. I use ALT+F4 to close things sometimes instinctively, I liked it when I could do it in FFXIV, sometimes you missed out in cutscene and want to exit it midway to roll back to the beginning of the scene, which now requires using windows's other features.

It is not hard. It is just something one could press in hurry or whatever else situation when you want to exit the game quickly.
Like said; you could never troll with it; it asks first, like PSO2 does. If you want to test how it used to be in XIV install PSO2 and press ALT+F4 in that game - exactly same thing.

I did not ever see a reason why the feature was removed.

Well, given that WASD is the left hand, and the 0 key is on the right side of the keyboard, that's rather simple.

    which finger.
    Right hand is for mouse.

Overall the much more important thing is the audio thing to me anyway.

I don't have my hand on the mouse, oddly enough! My history with MMOs was rather odd -- I played FFXI first... and then when I went into WoW, the game's tutorial said to use WASD to move and turn and the arrow keys on the keyboard also did this, just like FFXI which I was already used to, and nobody talked about mouse-turning back then. I played for years like that, and then when mouse-turning became all the rage and everybody was talking about it, I tried it but it just feels too clumsy. I lose access to a huge number of buttons for not much of any benefit. So, I kept on keyboard turning, even into my FFXIV time.

It gives you a lot of freedom with hotkeys if you keep both hands on the keyboard, though it takes some learning. There's not a single boss in the game I've seen yet that I can't dodge attacks and position myself properly by keyboard turning, despite what mouse-turning people will tell you. You just gotta learn how to do it. IMO, it just feels more natural.

The game is playable on many input methods. I tried XI and ended up using controller mainly with the game and mouse control on when I have to do some quick adjustments. Not many are that type of gamers and for most WASD area and mouse are main methods, I can heal better when I can use the cursor to target my team friends, on party list moved towards the center.

So most player, rightly so, go usually "what?" when I say 0 was in my rotation because that was just how many buttons SCH had and I got used to the weird positioning the game defaulted new skills to, before pruning it myself a bit.

Hah, glad to know I'm not the only one that did this! (Also hi Maeka!) I immediately keybind everything over to XI style on new alts, and also swap my UI to have the party on the right and the quest info on the left, because I could not overcome 10 years of FFXI muscle memory.

For me, left hand controls all macros, right hand controls movement on the directional keys, and camera with the thumb on the arrow keys. Mouse? What mouse? Oh, the thing I desperately avoid trying to use at all times.
