Man when I hear some of these arguments against all-class glamours I feel like these people's heads would explode if they tried playing XI. In there different jobs can wield the same weapons, cast from similar spell lists, AND glamour any and all armor they want.

I'm all for adding the option to equip whatever we want as glamour with the possible exception of Job-specific gear (job, not class) but if the root problem is a technical issue stemming from the equipment system I wish they'd follow through on their old promise for transparency and just list out why it can't work, technical babble be damned. I've had almost 20 years of XI's devs giving the same non-answers and XIV's playbook has devolved to the same thing over time.

It doesn't matter if they care or not. The game still remains a fantasy genre, and you only need look at how the MSQ is written, the lore that's canon, the way maps and jobs are designed, the dialogue, among many other things to know this.

I also wouldn't let the minority represent the majority. It is very common for me to see a tank in a frog outfit at the gold saucer. Seeing one in an actual duty is actually quite rare. From my experience, players really enjoy looking the part of their job or role and mixing their own flavour into it.

If they do this, I want them to just make one design per dungeon/raid and make sure that design works well on all races, genders, and jobs.

You could have level 81 dungeon be tank-inspired, level 83 dungeon be caster-inspired, etc.

Iconic job gear obtained through job quests should remain locked to the job. Everything else should be open season.

I mean I'm a DNC. The sorts of gear we wear is ALREADY available to everyone (Thavnarian bustier, etc) so why not?

Weapons can stay job specific, I don't think anyone would mind that much.

I should post a cool example of gear which was originally intended for one class that is now open for all.

Ironically I can actually do this. Thanks to the "Legacy Warrior Attire" on the cash shop.

I used it to do a cosplay of my favorite Michael Moorcock anti-hero.

Where are you playing? Because when I queue for randoms, it's the weapon and stance that lets me know who's who, not the glams. The number of times it's a cute catgirl tank in a cute dress with a giant sword is kind of overwhelming. Also, the number of male characters in a thong running around really makes me question what the actual percentage of .... (nevermind).

Basically, I just got done with a random with a Barista Tank, and hula girl as a Dragoon, and hells, I was doing my Blackknight Red mage look. The Healer was a lala, and frankly, I can never tell what they are going with as their fairy is larger than they are.

Wearing gear from other classes? No.

Being able to turn certain non class specific looking high level equip glamour into level 1 glamour items? Sure. Just let people turn the items in to a shop that will wipe the stats/class and make it just a glamour item.

Why the hassle? If it isn't Job-Specific(aka: Artifact Gear) then it should be glam-able to anything. Stick it in the glam closet. There's zero reason to 'wipe stats' if you're just literally using it as glam. LOL

I quit White Mage to play Red Mage when they introduced the Republican Signifer's Horns because that circlet was locked to casters and it is my all-time favorite head piece in this entire game. I'd main White Mage again if I could wear that circlet on it, but I can't so I won't. I quit maining a healer, a valuable role, and started maining a DPS job, which is an invaluable role, just because of a little circlet that would totally devalue a DPS caster if it could be worn on a healer.

Maybe someone is bad or doesn't want to play a healer and wants to use, for example, the Warg Jacket of Healing's appearance on Monk because they could be better at playing Monk and they like how that top looks. Someone could be more comfortable playing a tank than playing a DPS and wants to use the True Linen set of aiming's appearance because they might want to use a leather armor aesthetic without having a robe, which most tanks sets are robes. Do you see how your argument can fall apart?

I love the level 70 Farlander tank set from Hell's Lid and Fractal Continuum (Hard), and the level 72 dyeable reskin of it. I wish I could wear it on White Mage or Astrologian, would actually play healer again if I could.

And I may have Paladin at level 80 but I have never once done a dungeon on it, I have never tanked a single dungeon in this game for that matter, nor do I know that job's rotation. I leveled Paladin from 1 to 80 without queuing for a single dungeon JUST so that I could have a job I can run around with that could wear that armor set.

So do you want me, someone that knows nothing about tanking a dungeon, raid, or trial, to start playing a tank and tank for you just so I can wear that armor for more than just a trophy job I AFK in towns with?

Only an issue with the 24m raids. Which could be circumvented with use of another loot system where you gain said loot currency per raid/trial run and trade that currency in for statless level 1 versions of the raid's or trial's drops. It would allow a DPS to queue as a DPS and have a surefire way of getting a glamour they want. Can the ailing skeleton of FF14's engine support such a thing? I wouldn't be able to tell you.

Funny thing is multiple NPCs wear outfits for other jobs. Mob mages in Syrcus Tower wear tank sets. One caster in Crystarium wears aiming set. Also a lot of low level casting gear for some reason is available for DoW too, so you can be tank in robe and spiky hat. All these people complaining about immersion or job fantasy must be trembling in fear.
There is no reason to not unlock glamour. All arguments against it are invalid. There might be some technical limitations, but Yoshi P is boasting about growing development team, so he has occasion to prove it.
