Option to wear armour sets from different classes as Glamour for other classes

Heard SE devs actually listen to feedback given by the players so I'm making this post. Figured it would be neat if they allowed us to use our armour sets that are class locked as glamour for our other classes. The new fending coat from the "Puppet's Bunker" raid that is locked to tanks currently looks great and I would love to be able to wear that same coat on my other classes without being restricted to it just because the class is not a tank.

I agree. While I get, and actually sort of agree with, their original concept of having classes wearing classic styles of armour we've moved so far away from that so long ago that it doesn't hold water anymore. We can have tanks in bikinis, healers in chocobo costumes and everyone looking like 2B. The days of "tanks need to look like they're wearing armour and healers should be in robes!" are so far in the past they're not even in the rear view mirror any more.

This question has been asked to the Devs before and they're always stupidly obtuse about it, saying they want to "preserve class fantasy" or "it would look strange having a white mage use a warrior axe" (actual response despite no one asking for weapons to be glamed like that). The real reason they don't do this is likely simple, if they made glams cross role, they wouldnt be able to repackage gear models but with different class restrictions as loot.

You should play a Job if you want to look like that Job. It depreciates the value of Job(s) to move their unique glamours over to other Jobs, and makes it less of a draw to play any specific Job. This is not a hard concept to understand. They're not going to devalue the Jobs and make them less interesting.

Also, we don't need more incentive for terrible players queuing as tank, going OT, not picking up hate when MT dies, not picking up adds in add phase, randomly provoking and holding the boss in places that cause wipes, etc., which is what will happen if you reward DPS for queuing up once or twice to ransack a duty for tank loot.

Overall, a shortsighted idea, and a request always made by people who can't think past what they want and consider the overall harm it will cause.

On one hand I would love to wear two items on my current character/job. Which is WHM. That monk tank top from HW... and the Astro pants from their 60 job quest. That tank and pants would make a awesome combo.. but you can't mix monk with astro. On the other hand if they did let me do that I'll never have a reason to level and play those jobs so I can see why they don't do that.

there are a couple from Heavensward that have copies made by crafters which are level 1 for all. Sadly they are not the best crossover sets and they are fairly generic themed clothing well Sky Pirate and Sky Rat themed specifically.

I want this more than anything for this game. I understand if they want to keep job specific AF gear unique to the job it was designed for, but every other armor should be fair game.

They sure aren't, not by doing this. An alarmingly low amount of players use armor that 'looks like a job.' I'd like the AF sets to also be unlocked on the provision that you are of the class level to wear them, but nothing is being 'devalued' because someone likes the look of slightly different armor from a dungeon or wants to wear a not-dress on their healer.

This already happens. It's not going to happen more because people are somehow pressed to roll 'need' over 'greed' for a glamour item.

What WAS short-sighted was the devs deciding to make it so that you can't freely glamour any item for which you have a job that can wear it as equipment. FF11 worked like that. FF14 should have worked like that the entire time. I highly doubt that if it had been the way that it worked the entire time that you'd see a rash of posts on the official forums saying 'players wearing the PLD glamour are ruining the game,' because it has historically not been a problem in the least.

Great suggestion, OP. Hopefully this is the year they listen to it

While some of the suggestions are a little whacky I will say I'm 100% on board with this, even if it's just a baby step in reducing glamour restrictions to 'role style', aka casters can all use each other's gear for glamour, melee DPS gets their own bracket and Tanks as well, you can still preserve 'class identity' and do this. Does it really matter if the White Mage is rocking a Red Mage hat? Or a Summoner wearing some Scholarly robes?

I'm not saying let the Lalafell Dragoon glamour their spear into a Paladin sword/shield, but I am saying there's legitimately no good reason to keep class sets locked to those classes beyond the special few who legitimately require memorizing gear sets so they can tell at a glance if their PVP opponent is a Black Mage or a White Mage.

Or someone that hates fun, either or.
