Ishgard Thighboots

This is bothering me more every time I visit the Firmament, which is often lately...

How are Francel and Face of the Firmament both wearing Ishgard Thighboots, but when I try to wear them suddenly they're "♀ female-only"?



I'd love to be wrong. I'd love for there to be another version of this model which male characters can wear so if there is please correct me, but for all my searching this is the only version I could find, and the restriction seems to only apply to players since they fit both of these gentlemen just fine.

I'd also love to think this is a prelude to some gender restrictions being loosened, similar to how we saw the vibrant new dyes on NPCs at the Limsa docks before they were made available to us. But it's difficult to be that optimistic when gender-restrictions on items/looks are still so tight and still continue to happen every patch.

It's even more frustrating for items like this because these are an extremely gender-neutral item (they're boots for Fury's sake) and they look exactly the same on male and female anyway.

Can players please get glamours unlocked from genders, especially when they are available to NPCs that way?

They're definitely an oddity.

Considering that they're on the same vendor as the male-only Far Eastern Smock and female-only Ishgardian Gown, where the gender lock on the smock seems to be for arbitrary balance because it does exist for female NPCs... it just doesn't make sense. Either make the boots unisex or at least add shoes that match the smock for consistency.

The other sort-of gendered counterpart to the thighboots would be a Lv1 version of the Adept's boots, since that set is based on male Ishgardian NPC gear in the first place. But both types of boots for everyone would be better.

Sorry for such an old bump but I'm really glad to see these changes coming in 6.1 patch notes for these boots and other previously gender-restricted looks.
