While I agree that people need to stop comparing them constantly, it is inevitable since they are the big 2 MMOs on the market. That and the fact that FFXIV rework was designed around WoW.

I would say in the past you could make an argument that SE copied Blizzard, but they're pretty different in terms of priorities and direction.

You're right that SE designed the game around consoles in order to appeal to wider market but you have to remember that SE is first a console company, so of course they were going to have it on console. Even FFXI was on console.

Also, while PS4 isn't the strongest console, you're forgetting that there's people that play on potato spec PCs that are holding the game back too.

its nice WoW forums devote space for free advertising for FF XIV

They have had many flips through the years as to story direction, and really, direction is non existent. It may have been around for 15 years but it shows its age. I have played it through its life, and personally, prefer FF XIV far more. If they want to talk about FF XIV, they should, its superior is direction and story. gear in FF XIV is a progression, you dont grind out something thats central to a whole expansion only to have it virtually disappear appear after.
but, people play games for different reasons, and I just havent found WoW fun or interesting for years. FF XIV has not disappointed me.
There is no comparison aside from they are both games. Some people just need to justify their time I guess.

No one talks about FFxiv over on the Blizzard forums; and for the odd post that does talk about XIV, you have another five posts on this forum who start talking about it or its players, or the players that they think come from WoW because they want to accuse them of being toxic.
WoW lives rent free in the mind of the zealous XIV defenders who seem to need to defend the game from people who aren't out to get them.

Yoshi-P stated himself that FFXIV was heavily inspired by WoW. After such statement it's hard not to compare the two. There are still many things that WoW does better, and many people would like to see those in FFXIV. And vice versa.

Also these are both popular MMORPGs, of course people will compare them. Seen people compare both of them to Guild Wars 2 as well and even to something like Black Desert. It's inevitable because there are things that people like in one game and would like to see in another.

In fact, almost every item is selling for 50k or less (housing skins and rare items notwithstanding)
Not only due to the crafting changes, but because SE decided to flood the market with all items through the firmament rewards.

I guess I'll check real quick. It's usually hard to find anything about XIV there, tbh.

In the first 25 pages of the General Discussion forums, there is... one reference to XIV, from a "XIV-refugee" (if the reverse of "WoW refugee" is permitted), which amounts to "So a lot of people are saying XIV will be the new WoW-killer, but as someone who played XIV before having ever played WoW, almost none of the strengths attributed to it are all that prevalent..."

Overall, complaints about "weebness" are mostly limited to certain Twitch streamers' echo-meme-chat. It's a game with battle-cows, wise panda warriors, and a ton of plot armor, after all.

I'm a WoW player and have regularly been on the forums over there.

FFXIV doesn't come up that much but usually when it does it's in the context of people wondering if they should drop WoW and come here and/or listing off things FFXIV does that WoW should do. Sometimes people jump in saying something about "weebs" or not liking the art style but FFXIV usually is mentioned in positive ways.

Let's not start about the so-called "Casualization" of this game, most normal raids in Shadowbringers take a piss on ARR Extreme fights, Shiva Unreal is so laughable easy, it's literally "unreal" and just shows how easy fights were back then.

Also does no one claiming this remember, how shocked people were about how easy Classic endgame actually is?

Well, it's hard to muster a reply when people make arguments based on things that weren't actually said.
Not that it matters.
I enjoyed WoW for a few years, didn't like the direction it was taking so I canceled and never looked back.
I'll do (have done) the same here.
As will most in time.
WoW is left with the die hards, which is enough to make it profitable.
