ive basically just been unsubbing for 30 days at a time and coming back before house demos, but is this the only solution?
YOu burnt yourself out. Just goof off in game, do your sightseeing log, fish, hang out in limsa, chat it up and such. Of course, you can always play another game in the meantime which a lot do from time to time. Yoshi always recommends playing other games.

Look at your achievements if there's anything you want. Right now personally I'm working on tank mounts. If there's nothing you particularly want, are you a crafter or gatherer? Tomorrow the Firmiment stuff starts, so you can work towards that.
If neither of these things are appealing to you, just take a break from the game and come back when you want to. It's okay to feel burned out.

This situation has effected me and the vast majority of my guild. I probably had nearly 250 people quit the game due to boredom since ARR out of my guild. I have alot of people online for a few weeks after a non-raid patch launches, raid patches tend to have people on longer until it is on farm... then they log on 1 day a week for 3hrs.

Once you hit this point you need a another side mmo, Main MMO, or non-mmo game to keep you occupied. Once you are caught up on endgame the devs do not release enough content to play FFXIV as your only game.

And people always throw burnout around... I do not see that burn out. Burnout is not wanting to play the game anymore because you spent alot of time in it. This tends to be you want to play the game but there is nothing worthwhile to do anymore and are being forced to take a break.

FFXIV is an ultra casual mmo... it is only designed to be played for 10-15ish hours a week. If you play more then that you will eventually run out of content. Only solution if devs keep this content design is to release near an expansion worth of content every 6 months. Or I do not know release content that has more then a 1-2 month life span. There is nothing you can do as a player unless you are into the RP scene which can occupy alot of time.

The hardcore will tell you you're burned out. The realists will tell you that a large chunk of it has to do with the fact that Shadowbringers doesn't give you enough casual content at end game (level 80). Outside of maps, hunts, and roulettes the game is very barren. I keep wanting them to change this situation every expansion since Stormblood but it seems like with the staggered content within patches they want me to sub for the beginning of the patch (1 month) and that's basically it. Maybe next expansion they add something to keep people around beyond roulettes? Most likely not.

Hmmm this is a very interesting subject.

The thing is unlike most MMORPGs out there FFXIV literally just asks you to play about 30 minutes a day to "keep up" gearing wise. After that you are free to do whatever you enjoy.

It seems to me that people are so used to be put in this treadmill where you need to farm X, grind reputation with Y and do Z (which by the way all of these need to be done daily and will require at least 2 hours of game time if not more - which for a lot of people is all of the available time they have to play per day) if you want to "keep up". I think people forget you can do stuff that does not increase you character's stats and can be *fun*. Playing a MMORPG does not just involve the things you must do (and therefore kind of turning it into a job)

What I personally want from a game is not just the "must dos" but also the "want to dos" and i personally find it that FFXIV respects you time.

After I've done what i need to do to keep up (daily / weekly stuff) my time is dedicated towards goals I have set myself:
-Still working on leveling everyone to 80. DRK to go
-Leveling crafters and then start working on crafting my own gear
-There's stuff I want from the Gold Saucer and I want to get the MGP for it so I need to set time aside to go to the Gold Saucer.
    - Ex, Savage, Unreal (these are MASSIVE time sinks. They're great if you deal with frustration well and you have a ton of time to burn. Otherwise be aware that you might be frustrated with the fact you just spent 5 hours trying to get into a good farm party only to finish empty handed)
-I want a perfectly bred Chocobo. not high in my priority list but it's something i slowly work towards
-Hosting parties for your FC, be it teaching them fights (there's a lot of people scared of Extremes for example. get them new people to dip their toes into a bit more challenging content in an environment somewhat safe) or treasure maps, or glam hunting parties if they are into that
-go around taking screenshots of the scenery / your character ( I struggled with this for the longest time mostly because I was too stuck in the "treadmill mindset" so doing anything that didn't get me any rewards ingame or didn't boost my character's numbers was seen as "wasting time". Until I realized I actually had *fun* noticing that my composition skills got better and sometimes you took really cool screenshots.

I am forced to prioritize what I want to do due to an actual lack of time for the stuff I enjoy doing ingame so at best I can work in 2 things once, maybe twice a week.

I don't know how much free time you have OP.

If you have to ask this question or get other people to tell you what you should do.

Just go play something else until you have a desire to play this game.

This your first mmorpg? You grind for everything. I play WoW and after raids you work on getting every mount, every title. Same stuff you do here.

Have you completed all the ultimates, solo potd, hoh, mastered every craft. If you want an real endless grind go play bdo or something til next patch. If you've finished literally everything in the game and have 100 percent finished achievement book and literally nothing else to do well then you do what you do anytime you beat a game. Play something else bdo might be up your alley it's unbeatable. That or shadowlands comes out soon.

I played something else then my interest came back. I went away for 1 year, replayed single player games like Mass Effect. Witcher. Etc.

Its more about the overall design of the game. Casual mmos are meant to be played casually.
