In games where your character can only be 1 class, smart/class-specific loot drops makes a lot of sense. Unless SE also added a Loot Spec option where you could select which job you wanted to target the drops for, job-specific drops wouldn't always be desirable.

Honestly I would prefer SE ditched the Need/Greed/Pass as the default loot and just go for greed-only with either you getting or not getting loot automatically. One less dialog box to click through repeatedly.
