that's an outlier because they did that during the breakdown of 1.0 and the making of 2.0. there's asking for more and then there's gimme gimme gimme i want i want i want.
It isn't even that. They've already removed gender restrictions from the bridal outfits, there's no reason not to do so for the MS outfits when there is already precedent for it.






To be exact, the restrictions were not simply "removed". Someone had to take the bridal gown model and alter it to fit the various male body shapes - otherwise the piece doesn't exist for them to equip it.
So yes, they could go through the same process for the Mog Station items, but apparently they are doing it for at least some pieces of in-game gear first (I believe it was the Oasis, Riviera and Expeditioner sets that were leaked a while back alongside the wedding gear?). Still, that process would just mean you can equip the female version as a male character or vice versa - not that you can access the gendered equivalent piece.
(Also, it would be good idea to edit that post with the spoilered picture to warn for 5.3 story spoilers, because people will probably assume you're just hiding it for image size.)
