FFXIV on Mac OS: The solution is downgrading your Mac! :(

    Good evening y'all,

Right after I purchased yesterday the Complete Edition voor Mac OS I tried to install the software so many times.
I wrote Square-Enix and all I got back was that my message was sent to someone who will work on it.

For me it took too long. Apple didn't want to give any damn support and so I had to trust on me, myself and I.

What I did was downgrading my MacBook Pro from Catalina to Mojave.
After all it was a simple thing, but you have to stay very focussed.

Then I had to log in in the launcher of FFXIV, but the problems with downloading the Patches stayed... with the third time it was installed... All was installed and ready to rock after 26 frustrating hours.

So here is what I did and it works!
    1) Downgrading your Mac to Mojave: https://www.digitaltrends.com/comput...ina-to-mojave/

    2) Installing FFXIV, there are some problems while downloading the Patches. Hold on and keep trying. For me it was installed after the third time I logged in.

There's a long and involved explanation for why the game works on Mojave but not Catalina, but the actual technical details probably aren't that interesting. The upshot of it in the end is "the game has always listed the minimum requirements on macOS as being a discrete GPU, which the laptops don't have; previously, it would work on integrated graphics like the Intel Iris Pro in most MacBook variants *anyway*, but with Catalina that's no longer true and the minimum requirements are genuinely real minimum requirements."

If you pick up an external GPU like Sonnet's Radeon RX560 "Puck", the game will work even under Catalina. (Also the performance will be *considerably* better than on the Intel Iris Pro under Mojave... albeit at the cost of not being able to play the game with the laptop on-the-go, necessitating it be docked.)

I aim to make my posts engaging and entertaining, even when you might not agree with me. And failing that, I'll just be very, VERY wordy.
