    New Player Gearing Question

So im at the end of stormblood, and because of the new server buff i got multiple jobs to lvl 70. Then it dawned on me that maybe i wouldnt have the time to gear alot of these jobs to be able to get into savage raids.

So I created this post to figure out how many jobs people have at a savage raid ilvl entry and how many hours a week they think it takes to keep a job at raid ilvl, or if some people think that it takes to much time to get a character in savage raid ilvl range?

    thanks all

Get to 80, focus on gearing one job that you will 'main' atleast for the current tier. Do this by gridning daily DF for Phantasmagoria/Allegory tomestones, Buy crafted gear, doing 24 mans, or doing 8 mans and experts trials. Should take you a week or two to get to 485-490 iLvL if you focus on it with the current available content. Keep in mind it is recommended that if you want to do Savage content that you also focus on practicing the job you play and getting proficient in rotations and skills.

Once you have 485-490 and are proficient in your class, hit savage content and start progging that. While you are progging that, continue doing dailies and what not for tomestones and etc and start gearing other classes you might be interested in playing.

The lucky thing is that you're at a "catch up" patch. Meaning there are multiple ways to get "raid worthy" gear right now. When you reach Shadowbringers you'll want to focus on one role (healer/tank/melee DPS/caster/ranged DPS) since they usually share gear (though... Ninja uses Scouting left side and Aiming right side, Samurai and Monk share left and right and Dragoon has Maiming left side and Slaying right).

Usually when the new raid tier comes out you'll only be able to gear one of your roles with CURRENT raid gear, but that's because of the weekly lock-outs and weekly cap on Allegory. For Eden 1-4S You'll do fine with Phantasmagoria Tomes, which don't have a weekly cap. And have to save up your Allegory for 5-8S stuff, or find a friendly group that can make up the difference and get you the first few floors drops.

There's also Puppet's Bunker with current i490 gear (capped at one drop a week), the Abandoned Factory is uncapped with i460, and Memoria Misera gives 480 gear. With the relic weapons being i485 weapons (useful for the current tier, which drops i505 weapons in E8S) at 1000 poetics each.

Current crafted gear puts you literally 20 ilvls below BIS raid gear. They hand you a 485 legendary at 80 that we are about to upgrade. Nier raids hand out 490 gear. Allegory currency caps at 450 per week that you can buy 490 ilvl gear and Phantasmagoria currency caps at 2,000 and you can get 460 gear with that.

You will learn extremely quick gear is not the hamster wheel at end game in FF14.

When the next raid tier drops(dec-jan timeframe most likely), all combat gear currently in the game will be outdated. The people who do world first prog are already in current BiS(they have been for months). The morning the patch goes live they will rush to unlock the new raids, and immediately start trying to clear them at the current levels(ilvl 500 with 505 weapon). If a given group/player wants a small boost, the same patch will launch with new crafted combat gear at ilvl 510 allowing for selective upgrades as needed(there will also be other slower ways to get upgrades between 510 and 520 available to both raiders and non-raiders). Most likely the world first groups will solve the 4 fights by the end of the day, and their reward will be the 530(535 weapon) gear that will be the highest level available until the next expansion arrives. Why do i point all that out? You still have 3ish months to get caught up and try the current raid tier while it is still current. That is more then enough time to get into it and even gear out a couple jobs. Then on our next major patch day everyone will be working on getting a new set at the same time.
