Then if there were choice it wouldn't affect you at all. Case closed for you I suppose.Prior to their last 20 levels or so, I don't think there's enough complexity in jobs of any sort to necessitate a wade-in period.
I'd have preferred if the advanced jobs had base classes just so someone who, say, wants to be a tank specifically of the two-handed-sword variety can use a two-handed sword from the start (e.g. as a Templar), rather than needing to swap from what they may consider an unattractive axe-wielding barbarian or a hackneyed, standard, sword-and-board class.
Granted, it'd then require a logical degree of shared experience across the role, given both that it used to be only ever skipped and, frankly, most tanks play quite alike anyways. Thus, so long as the devs aren't willing to share any degree exp except among "shared-class" or "branched" jobs (at which point they share it entirely despite the two jobs having very little to do with each other), I'd rather just keep things as they are.
