Prior to their last 20 levels or so, I don't think there's enough complexity in jobs of any sort to necessitate a wade-in period.

I'd have preferred if the advanced jobs had base classes just so someone who, say, wants to be a tank specifically of the two-handed-sword variety can use a two-handed sword from the start (e.g. as a Templar), rather than needing to swap from what they may consider an unattractive axe-wielding barbarian or a hackneyed, standard, sword-and-board class.

Granted, it'd then require a logical degree of shared experience across the role, given both that it used to be only ever skipped and, frankly, most tanks play quite alike anyways. Thus, so long as the devs aren't willing to share any degree exp except among "shared-class" or "branched" jobs (at which point they share it entirely despite the two jobs having very little to do with each other), I'd rather just keep things as they are.

Then if there were choice it wouldn't affect you at all. Case closed for you I suppose.

It is not "case closed". It takes dev time to code the choice you're asking for. It takes dev time to make sure the choice doesn't create unintended side effects in the state and event flags. It takes dev time to create (1-29)/(1-49)/(1-59) weapons for each of the jobs that don't have weapons below their starting level, even if all they did was recycle existing models. It takes dev time to decide how to reconcile the job quests in some satisfactory way and then implement that decision.

    It takes dev time.

I tire of these "if it's optional then it doesn't affect you" posts. Optional things still affect everybody.

I would like to reinstall the idea though since everyone seems to focus on the WHOLE idea of players playstyle. This is strictly focusing on the idea of the CHOICE of deciding weather or not to play from 1 or say even 30. If you don't want to...you DON'T have to. I just enjoy the idea of playing the job from much further away from max. And that's the point...choice.

Is that worth forcing people into a decision at the point of the job's creation, though?

Why not just request the ability to level-sync generally, similarly to if you wanted to sync to a level 1 friend and progress with them, or even just make leveling emulation an optional part of New Game+? Why give players a choice in such a bimodal will-probably-bite-you-later fashion when you have so many more granular and choiceful means of doing what you want?

But... You can already do this.
You can already choose to synch down and run Copperbell, Quarn, etc. until you feel ready to move on.

If anything starting at a higher level helps you move at your own pace. If you feel like you have the earlier stuff down... you're already levelled past it and can move on. If you're confident at level 41 you don't have to run Stone Vigil 5 more times.

I've seen SE implement sillier things than this (no offense...), so they wouldn't have a problem adding a "start from scratch" option for every role, provided enough people asked for it.
Thing is...you are literally the only person I've ever seen requesting something like this TC, so you can practically forget about it, not gonna happen.

This sounds like a better way of doing it. Some way to help lower level friends without trivializing what they're doing would be nice to have along with the ability to force a level sync whenever you want to experiment with a class at a certain point in its progression.
