1. As a straight white dude, the one thing I literally do not care about is a character's sexuality. Is this an LGBTQ -insert the insane amount of random characters here- thing? You can't enjoy a story unless there's "someone like me"?
One of my favorite podcasts is Welcome to Night Vale. Starring a gay host. I can't remember if there even were straight people in that podcast. They also made Alice isn't Dead, which was also a pretty good podcast starring lesbian characters (season 3 was very meh).
I don't go into a story demanding that there be representation for me nor do I look for it. Why do you have to? Do you think that there's perhaps something wrong with being the way you are and need some sort of outside validation?

2. Representation is not a positive or negative thing. It simply is. If you can do it naturally, it is a good thing. The way most people want it is a negative thing. (See: ticking box argument)

3. There's like 1-5% of the population that isn't straight. You are not likely to run into someone else that is not straight. If you want an accurate representation of that, then of course there's not going to be many people like you.

4. It is not normal. If it was, you and I wouldn't be here to be having this discussion as the human race would've died out with the first generation.

Except it’s already extremely highly prevalent. There are quite a few ways Squeenix has acquiesced to that particular community (same sex marriage, incorporating glamour gear that can be work by both genders, bunny bois that were very much for a particular player base, the constant alphabet warrior ERP bar ads…the list goes on) quite a lot. You have to ask yourself, at what point does your vision of the game infringe on the developers or other players? What if neither want an over prevalence of this for simple sake of immersion breaking factors? Not to mention that this game very sparingly if ever makes mention of anyone’s sexuality as it has little to nothing to do with the game.

There's like 1-5% of the population that isn't straight. You are not likely to run into someone else that is not straight. If you want an accurate representation of that, then of course there's not going to be many people like you.

Not to be rude, but this absolutely reads as one of those things that those super sweaty kind of guys insinuate when a woman happens to be nice to them and then next thing you know he's telling her how he's in love with her and how they're meant to be all because she smiled at him and now he took that to mean an automatic offer to be his gf and subsequent wife for the rest of his live with absolutely 0 regard for who she actually is or anything she's actually said. Now I'm not saying you're delusional, I'm just saying at no point was anything in the story anywhere near pornographic. Not even a tiny bit. Not even a little. There is no sexual tension between any characters in XIV. Like black and white, there just isnt. Now, when I'm feeling in a particular mood? Oh yes, they're totally in love with each other and also me in my mind. Ok? I'm not queueing into the newest alliance because I love running content that much, no I'm queueing because I want to see my two new boyfriends at the end of it who absolutely are in love with me too and the tension between us is insane. Now. Does that make it reality though? No. That just tells you I'm extremely thirsty. and now, I'm not throwing out any accusations here, but it sounds like I'm not the only one with what you just said here. Because both our lines of thoughts very clearly arent rooted in reality.

Anyway shoe horning is horrific and if you think you need it in something then I think you havent yet experienced what its like when it actually happens, and so the version of it in your mind is a lot more nicer than it would actually be. The reality of it is if it did happen, it would be torn to shreds on both sides anyway. It would still be considered problematic no matter what they did. Right now you can tell me that that isnt true, and right now I could tell you that most of you wanted that lottery system you're all still having so much fun with. So always be mindful of the monkeys paw.

As a gay guy - I honestly don't care if the game has no "presentation". I want to play a good game, stop shovelling "The Message" into everything. I rather enjoy that game is for the most part aromantic. Leaves plenty of room for imagination.
