Woo the journey page 200 let's go
Would anyone actually be bothered if a gay character was added? I mean, if it didn't come off like it was trying to push an agenda or make it this big thing that is. We have Moenbryda's parents, Fourchenault and Ameliance, Dulia-Chai and Chai-Nuzz, etc... Some single but flirty characters like Thancred and Magnai. And there's probably more that I can't remember at this moment.
People tend to be pretty good at picking out when character has genuinely good characterization, or when they are shoehorned in to preach an ideology. But the thing is, you can't have a gay character with good characterization if they don't exist in the first place, right? Relationships and romance aren't important in this game at all, but they do exist in some small part.
Now that I think about it, weren't there gay characters in the wanderer's palace story line? So it's not like it doesn't already exist in the game.
whoa things have continued. Will this thread get to 200? Will the thrilling conclusion of these heated 'debates' come to a close? Also I swore originally the P in the letter salad was suppose to be for pansexuality, but that was ages ago though. Now there are flags that look horrible that I never signed off on, and numerous random other letters. I miss the days people thought pansexuality was someone who really like pots and pans, and anime conventions were actually fun to go to until they started kicking random dudes who looked really good in the Faye Valentine cosplay out of the cons because they were not dressed properly when a ton of women were wearing the same outfit but looked less attractive. I wish I saved my pictures. The skin colored tights were too much under the short shorts and they were just too convincing until they spoke, which ended up being their undoing. They were kicked out until they changed their cosplay.
Looking up current things 31 flags! There are 31 flags! holy cannoli! 31 different flags! I haven't really kept up on current things but I remember when I first joined my high schools club there was only 1 flag for everything and everyone.
so how gay does the game have to get for someone like you to be happy? Like on fire gay or what.
tbh I wouldn't care if any were added or not. It doesn't effect me in any way. But if a character like that was added, I wouldn't be bothered by it unless it felt like weird political propaganda.
I agree with you. the original post just bothered me. like does a gay character have to roll in and act gay? i feel like this game has lots of gay/feminine characters. these cry baby woke people need to chill. i know I'm a asshole but the game has been really consistent with the content and if they push someone like a very gay character it will ruin the flow. It not a big deal if they have a gay one just not a flaming one with a tee shirt that says "Im gay look at me".
lol I get you, yeah. I can understand the pushback because the woke crowd is pretty obnoxious and controlling.I agree with you. the original post just bothered me. like does a gay character have to roll in and act gay? i feel like this game has lots of gay/feminine characters. these cry baby woke people need to chill. i know I'm a asshole but the game has been really consistent with the content and if they push someone like a very gay character it will ruin the flow. There are some gay couples, but they are irrelevant overworld NPCs who don't contribute to the MSQ or even to the lore, really. And then there's the issue that it's not really easy to know if they were added afterwards by the localization team or whether they were originally same sex couples in the Japanese version as well.Would anyone actually be bothered if a gay character was added? But in terms of the Final Fantasy franchise, FFXIV is quite groundbreaking and actually is pretty good. Same sex marriage existed from the beginning of EB, same sex couples, albeit completely irrelevant (like the Wanderer's Palace couples), exist and some of the important NPCs do come off as '' playersexual. ''
Alisaie has a pretty clear crush on the WoL regardless of their sex.
Haurchefant is very much physically and romantically interested in you in the Japanese version regardless of WoL's sex.
Aymeric might also play into this category, as Thancred makes a joke about Aymeric being in love with the WoL (in both English and Japanese version), and considering our dinner date... I don't think it's that farfetched.
G'raha Tia and Zenos are also characters that can pretty easily be read as having some sort of interest in the WoL, though everything is obviously up to one's own intepretation.
There's also Sadu who has women wanting to get her linkpearl, and that moment with Cirina completely ignoring Magnai in favor of Sadu was quite telling.
Similarly Ryne and Gaia, while people will deny it to their deaths for some reason, can be interpreted as to have something of a completely innocent budding teen romance developing.
Comparing this to other Final Fantasies, where I can only pinpoint uuuhhh.. the Honey Bee Inn from FFVII and Fang and Vanille's relationship in FFXIII, I'd say FFXIV is doing pretty good. But it'd nice to see a bit more, not just something left for interpretation.
My favorite part of the thread is reading all the tags for the thread.
