Ok heres a question? How do you know there are no LGBT characters in this game?
What? You expect their entire identity, their entire theme to be around their sexual identity?
If you want too see that kind of thing, go watch any Netflix produced show were they literally have a bingo card of woke tropes right down too a single character whos only role is to walk up and say "im gay!" and walk off.
No OP, the fact you want to force that kind of thing as a characters sole plot point and reason for existing, makes you a total bigot.
Romance and gender politics doesn't feature heavily in FFXIV, let a fantasy game just stay a fantasy game and things progress naturally, if it happens, it happens and it will be in a way that fits the games theme, Hell as I said, its likely there are characters, they just don't scream it from the rooftop like you want, because that's just stupid, like EVERY topic in EVERY game demanding a character be made purely based on sexual identity.
Not to be rude but I'd rather see them focus their time and resources on more content over adding things to appeal to every demographic. The goal of games is first and foremost to offer a good game, not appeal to as many minorities as it can. If they can do that, super, but its pretty far down on the priority list.
Hard agree. I'm reminded a bit of WH40K and how a common complaint is that the story started lacking focus because they were trying to appeal to as many as possible rather than focusing on what they did well and were loved for. Don't want to see ppl say the same about this game

They could do both. I used to share the view of "do it right". The way it was explained to me, is that they should simply...be there and exist in various narratives in games, movies, what have you. Saying "don't force this on me" or "lol more pandering, yay" implies that they have to try harder to belong and be seen, which isn't right. They should just be part of life, games, etc without any need to bend over backwards. Not to be rude but I'd rather see them focus their time and resources on more content over adding things to appeal to every demographic. Sorry if I think that a "subculture" that claims every cis straight white person is a white supremacist, nazi, facist that does not believe in equality, is an extremist social group that indoctrinates peoples ideals. I didn't put that in my head, but there is no way it could be because the "subculture" says such terrible things right? So again, maybe you should think about why people have this view instead of branding them and calling them names, it may help you understand why people don't support the ideals.
Anyways. Go for it put a gay couple in the game, I think don't think to players it is going to make a difference or cause any sort of back lash or subscription drops for the NA side of things at least.
Good thing that "subculture" doesn't do that. The fringe parts do, sure, because every subculture has their toxic assholes. Just like we don't use the Westboro Baptist Church as the representation of all Christians, perhaps not branding everyone as the same thing? (You know, something you're claiming gets done to everyone else.) Oh, and for the most part, a lot of us call that behavior out when we see it. You may not have put that in your head, but you most certainly didn't get that from talking to a large number of LGBTQ+ people. Again: I didn't call you anything. I haven't called anyone anything. I'm addressing your arguments and your points, and the likelihood of where you pulled those points from.Sorry if I think that a "subculture" that claims every cis straight white person is a white supremacist, nazi, facist that does not believe in equality, is an extremist social group that indoctrinates peoples ideals. To your throwaway point: If Ryne and Gaia became a canon couple, for example, there would absolutely be immediate backlash. Less than if it were, say, Aymeric and Estinien, but it would still be quite the kerfuffle. It happens often enough in media.
You really shouldn't engage with this person they were defending homophobes like earlier in this very thread.Good thing that "subculture" doesn't do that.
