Frustrating relative lack of LGBT NPCs in this game

I don't think the Ryne and Gaia one could be any more blatant, especially with what Ryne says during the last fight.

There really is nothing pointing to them being any more than close friends, especially if you do savage and see that Gaia/Loghrif was in love with Mitron. Gaia and Ryne shared similar experiences and it brought them close as friends. The rainbow thing was specifically explained in the msq, matoya’s dungeon has rainbow lava is she gay now too? The logic just doesn’t make sense.

Also, what your post implies is also bi-erasure. The LGBT community and forgetting that Bisexual and Pansexual people exist, name a more iconic duo.

It depends what language you play it on. I believe in the JP text it’s much more implied they are just good friends. Meanwhile on EN it teases that possible romantic relationship between Gaia and Ryne. Have to remember JP isn’t as progressive as the west and LGBT acceptance is harder to come by.

Really? I seem to recall early 90's anime which had gay couples in it, but when they got localized in the west they were just "good friends".
From my perspective the west has been far too late to accept homosexual relations, and nowadays are rebounding way way wayyyyy too far in the opposite direction to try and compensate.

The show even had a male gay couple. But one of the guys got dubbed by a woman, at least in the german dub. XD

See, that's the magic that anime/manga does that western media fails horrendously at - they actually bother to blend their inuendos and political stances (if any) in the story so it never interrupts the flow, rather than just shove it down your throat using trendy buzzwords and whatnot - how else would they'd add "representation flavor" if not for the giant crystal that was already there, that "conveniently" turned rainbowy as both girls embraced.... except it wasn't just convenience, it turned rainbowy because they managed to blendin all the aetheric element energy thingies and restoring life to the zone. Are they or are they not together? we'll likely never know, but it's undeniable a giant rainbow happened while they were having their moment.

I personally much prefer subtliety like that, not only because it leaves the door open for interpretation, but because I...just don't like how romance is often portrayed in media. Whether they be straight, gay or whatever, it often feel like they NEED to make out for the audience to understand characters A and B are now together, and that just feels like pandering. I don't need to kiss my boyfriend everytime we hang out to "justify" we're a couple. It's nobody's business.
