I dunno, I for one do not care about petty things like real-world representation in my fantasy game. I don't need to #relatable to enjoy it.Im surprised to see such a seemingly innocent request from a minority is being given "Oh not this shit again" by some in here.
I mean, does an inclusion of an LGBT character hurt anyone? Does the TC actually requested said character to hold the big "I AM GAY" banner with flashing siren as he or she is introduced? No? So why the seeming hostility towards the idea? Is it one of those "please don't politicize my game" sentiment?
I think a minority representation in something extremely popular like FFXIV is always gonna be a positive thing, and there's no need to reject the idea or to push it back due to some silly notion that it will "ruin" the game or anything like that, it's not going to hurt anyone or anything.

I just wrote in Thancred thread that most comfy way to view any NPC to me is to leave them blank slates untill/unless anything gets, like, confirmed.
Freedom is great like that: when nothing is strictly confirmed, I can RPG and headcanon the sparkles out of all my fav NPC.
And it's not like there isn't very very likely trans lesser NPCs around.
M-model Mystel being referred as she.
That one au ra guard in Reunion, F-model, referred as he.
Was not gonna say anything about this but Omega
...I see myself out.
How would an NPC be identified as LGBT? Special color, a big marker hanging over it's head? And what difference would it make when you're interacting with them to pick up or turn in a quest?
The same way any of the multitide of NPCs that are identified as straight is. The obvious way being mentioning something like a wife, boyfriend, girlfriend, etc in passing or actually having that other npc also be in the game. For example, Chai-Nuzz and Dulai-Chai or a female quest npc asking the player to find their husband in the forest because he hasn't come home yet and she's worried. All that's needed is for the gender of the pairs be the same and voila.

why does it matter? i'm pan and i don't feel put out by the lack of pan characters
To be fair, romance and sexuality very (very) rarely come up in this game in general, so how are we to know the orientation of any of the characters?
I mean what canon couples are there, really?

gw2 has a canon lesbian couple they even kissed in a cutscene and they are very open about it. I know ffxiv may can't have open lgbtq as much because they want there game worldwide. and sadly there are still certain countries were that is illegal. (china,Russia) I hope one day that won't be so much of an issue
This is a fantasy game. If the fantasy doesn't match your particular fetish, perhaps look elsewhere.
