Adding a PC to my account.

I play on PS4 but have a laptop that is more powerful and wish to play on there as well. I just have a few questions that I am pretty sure one but would like to be 100% before moving forward.

First off, I know I will have to re-do all my hotbars, UI, Macros etc. Apparently there is some way to store these settings going from PC to PS4 but unfortunately as far as I know there is no way to do it vice-versa. Luckily the only combat role I really play is NIN so I will just screenshot settings from there to easily remember them. As for my crafters and gatherers, I probably need to re-do those hotbars anyway to make them identical with each class so I am not always doing different buttons for the same rotation.

First question. I know I will have to register my PC game key to the same account I use for PS4. I have been playing FFXIV for over 5 years, started on PS3 and did the free transfer. I am guessing I will have to register my PC key during startup on the PC and I will just log in using my current account (PS4) credentials but since it has been so long since I created account I can't be completely sure if that's how it works. If it for any reason is different, I need to know.

Second question. I have been debating between the version from SQEX's official site and the Steam Version. I know going forward that any expansions for the PC account will have to be purchased on the same service. I know Steam has automatic plug in play for PS4 controllers. That leads me to lean that way a bit as I don't have to really install any other programs such as DS4 windows. However I really do prefer the official SQEX version. Has anyone here used DS4 windows to play FFXIV and how well does it work? Lastly if I DO go with the Steam version, I just want to be sure I can still register my PC key to my existing account and use the same character on the PC.
