In fairness, after their interdimensional escapades in Shadowbringers the twins are now mentally of age in most modern countries. That said, legal age is probably a bit lower in Eorzea due to the time period.

Thancred? Nah, he's always spending 2.X getting wasted after his attempts at wooing women fails. He tries to hit on F'lhaminn and fails hard. He's chatting up a Miqo'te woman on the promenade during "The Parting Glass" who runs away before things get dicey. So... pretty sure he's not gay. His relationship with Minfilia is meant to be more of a father / daughter thing than romantic attraction due to him essentially being a surrogate father to her, much like the relationship between Raubahn and Nanamo (that people also mistake for romance).

With a name like Thancred Waters, he is clearly "gender fluid", get it? I'll show myself out....

On a more serious note, a lot of stuff in the game is open to interpretation so players can adapt the fiction in to whatever they want. You don't need confirmation of something to allow your mind to wander.

Was messing around in the 2019 Q&A for another thread and this seems relevant to the above:

Oda: It’s purely a coincidence that most of the Garleans we've focused on have been male. Of course there are female characters, and it’s not that they are forced to the background. However, the wife of Varis died after she gave birth to Zenos, so it would be difficult to bring her back to the story.

(SERIOUS) I've been playing this game for a long time now and I've been playing through the main story again for the 3rd time and I just started to notice Thancreds behavior towards certain men such as Alphinaud. Whenever he is around him since the start of their reuniting in heavensward it just feels as if there is a sexual tension between the two something that I NEVER see between any other interaction with him and others. I know his personality is nonchalant and flirty but he seems to go the extra mile on his jokes and conversations with Alphinaud. I would usually ignore it but the thing is that Alphinaud visibly BLUSHES whenever Alphinaud flirts with him. Not in dialogue but in-game emotes you can see Alphinaud blushing as a response towards Thancreds remarks towards Alphinaud. Honestly I was kind of disturbed by it as it never seemed something I would ship but honestly at this point I'm in love with the idea of it and I hate to see them beat around the bush with it (and no its not infatuation). What do you guys think though? If you want to call me bs on this just go back and rewatch the scenes and see the interactions between those two its amazing and beautiful.

Hmm I don't think Thancred is gay with Alphinaud but he might be pansexual and a bit in love with Urianger.

I'll at least grant this one is an interesting thing to see revived. Usually the thread necromancy is about just really old, long-solved questions that probably just happened to crop up in very specific google searches, but I don't think I've ever seen someone float this one.
