Obvious troll is obvious... but to provide an answer: Thancred can be whatever you want him to be, but canon is that he's straight.

Personally, unless it's made explicit I tend to assume the male characters are all gay. Of the main characters, Thancred and Urianger have both had story lines that show them interested in women,but Alphinaud, Haurchefant, Aymeric, Estinien, Nero, G'raha Tia, Emet Selch and Gaius are all gay until proven straight for me lol.

Thancred is straight, but he's also a shameless flirt.

Compare to Haurchefant, Aymeric, and G'Raha Tia, among others, who are pretty clearly WoL-sexual. Whatever your character is, they're into it.

As for the troll OP, nah, Thancred has no interactions with Alphinaud like that. Source: I've been playing through the entire game again and recording every major cutscene. Alphinaud actually doesn't have very many interactions with Thancred at all.

Disclaimer: not trying to get into interwebs fight on some weeb game's forum. Generally just curious, + also aware that this is troll thread. Sometimes I just crave the taste of horrible troll thread, leave me alone.

But, also again generally, where has any NPC's orientation been confirmed?
I know JP media likes them these kind of information lists about fictional characters in fashion of height, weight, bloodtype etcetc. But as far as I am aware XIV NPC's havent't gotten that sort of treatment yet. At least not with cut and dry "Tacos/Hotdogs?" article.

The fact that Thancred is/used to be raging flirt with girls means nothing. Or, we haven't seen how he would approach guy, does that mean he never flirts with guys? Would his method be similar or entirely different from the method he approaches girls with?

I don't know what decade you're living in, but there's lots of ways gay people can conceive children. And considering all the things that are possible in this game's universe, I'm sure there's even more ways.

As a gay guy myself I definitely imagine some of the male characters in this game as being into other men. It's fun. There's even hot art out there in some cases. Yet that isn't necessarily canon and shouldn't be pushed as such - especially in cases where strong romantic feelings for the opposite gender have been established.

It doesn't rule them out as being bisexual, of course, but there's always been something unsettling to me about people trying to erase a character's explicit interest in the opposite sex just because they themselves would prefer to imagine them as gay.

Thancred has explicitly shown interest in women on multiple occasions, Estinien and Ysayle arguably had a spark between them and Alphinaud is underage so any 'shipping' between him and other characters stands to get weird and creepy pretty quickly.

It's no less ridiculous than assuming he's gay until proven otherwise. Characters in any well written story aren't just going to blurt it out and going by probabilities, he is less likely to be gay, or bi for that matter, than straight. Siring children by choice certainly isn't evidence for it.

Personally, I wouldn't be surprised if a roguish type like Thancred happened to be bi, but I also wouldn't say that means much other than me headcanoning stuff. :P Same with Magnai and Daidukul!

I'm not exactly sure why you felt the need to reply to me specifically. I wasn't arguing in favour of a character being gay. I was saying that a man having children doesn't automatically mean he's straight. You probably should've quoted someone else.
