Great. Now DX9 is crashing constantly for me.

So, a few months ago, I was having DX11 crashes.

A friend of mine suggested I switch to DX9 which I did. It was fine for several months... but now it wants to crash constantly. This started the day before yesterday, and now twice today within 5 minutes.

I am close to just giving up and throwing in the towel. I can't play a game, especially an online one, that will just randomly crash whenever it feels like it. It utterly destroys my desire to play.



I didn't change anything about my PC whatsoever since the DX11 crashes, I have every overlay turned off, I make sure that I don't run OBS or anything like it anymore.

I'm just out of ideas of what to do and I really don't want to have to uninstall and reinstall (which is pointless anyways, because md5 is md5, the files are not corrupt so please stop telling us to do that).

So, after a cold boot... at least I didn't crash in <5 minutes.

So, I decided to disable Fast Startup in Windows 10 so that every time I shut the computer down I'm getting a cold boot the next time I turn it on.

Just have to pray that works.

Since a couple days ago? No, I haven't updated graphics drivers, and there's a reason why: Anytime I want to install new graphics drivers, it causes GeForce Experience to run, that program will overwrite all of my games' settings, ALL OF THEM and it takes forever for me to go back and re-set all of my games' settings, one by one, to undo the damage. I really wish I hadn't installed that stupid program from day one, but anyhow.

I did update my GPU drivers back when I had the DX11 crashes, and it didn't change anything. When I changed to DX9, I was fine for several months as stated in the thread, until a couple days ago.

I've since turned Fast Booting off, and I've not had a crash yet. But given the erratic nature of the crashes.... I can't know if this actually fixed it or not.

Also, I always run the game windowed+maximized so that I can see the windows taskbar as I am oftentimes on communications software that I need to see the taskbar flashing with activity.

EDIT: Some more information:

-No overclocking (I never overclock any of my systems).
-Checked Temperatures several times back during the dx11 crashes, they're fine.
-No API hooks/cheats/parsers/other third party tools that interact with the game.
-Steam and Discord Overlays disabled.
-Microsoft Game Bar, Game Mode, and similar Windows features disabled.
-No other game except for No Man's Sky has crashes (and even NMS only seldomly crashes)
