Thread: Strange performance issues (delayed loading/pop-in/poor connections status) since 5.3

I've noticed some really strange little things since the 5.3 patch and it is significant enough for me to take notice.

1. While I know teleporting into Limsa and other major cities take a bit longer than normal, lately, it is noticeably longer.

2. Delayed player loading/pop-in has significantly increased since the patch. I am talking for a good 10-20 second Limsa may seem it has like 3-4 people in it then BOOM 50.

3. Delayed Asset loading after cutscenes. Sometimes my minion takes a good 5-10 seconds to pop back in.

4. Delayed gear set switching loading. While this isn't major I have noticed I could switch gear sets and there is a 2-3 second blip before it appears.

5. On Character Selection Screen getting "POOR" randomly. My Internet is fine. Nothing has changed. I've played for SEVEN years and I've never seen POOR and now it is appearing all the time.

Now, I realize more players are back since 5.3. However, in the previous expansions and patches, I never experienced anything like this. I'm not sure if something file-wise is not right or updated and I need to uninstall the entire game and reinstall or what.

Now, I play on PS4 Pro. I know performance-wise this doesn't compare to PC. But as I've said, this is all NEW stuff I haven't experienced in the past and it is really frustrating.

Hmm, how do you do that? I've never done that before.

- Go to https://arrstatus.com
- There you see the various datacenters.
- Below each column there is a IP adress (for Chaos for example it's 195.82.50.9)
- Hit WINDOWS ICON + R on your keyboard and type CMD (or click start > run and type CMD)
- Hit Enter
- Type "ping 195.82.50.9" without quotation marks and it will give you a ping result with min/high/avrage

All the things you listed happen to me as well. Except "Poor" connection. I always have an "Excellent" connection. I have a very good gaming PC that can run FFXIV max settings with no problem and internet speeds of up to 450mb download. However, depending on how populated certain areas are - it will take longer to load in as it is also loading in the other players. The minion thing happens to me as well sometimes but rarely.

Sometimes the servers hiccup throughout the day and you'll experience lag, etc.

Thanks at least I don't feel completely pyscho. Even when it says POOR it runs perfectly normal. I may need a new router. I am using a wired connection but it is over 4 years old, possible not working properly anymore.
