    Crippling controller issue, please help!

    Hello,

I'm playing on Windows 10 Pro. My controllers keep disconnecting/reconnecting for a split second causing the sticky auto run issue.

I've tried disabling Microsoft Device Association Root Enumerator.
I've tried connecting my controllers to Steam.
I've tried both Bluetooth and cable.
    I've tried reinstalling Windows 10.
The controllers I've used are two Xbox One controllers, a Dualshock 4, a Dualshock 3, and a Switch Pro controller.

Solved. I played with Device Manager on a second screen and observed it every time my controller acted up. The headphone and microphone panel on my case was twitchy, I unplugged my case's audio I/O from the motherboard and have not encountered the issue since. Thank you everyone.

I've come across many causes over the years.

When you're connected by cable, the micro USB on ps4 and xbo pads can intermittently lose connection because it's a bad type of connector with some wiggle.

But you've tried wireless and still experienced the issue so it could be a software thing.
A common one is the Xbox software on Win10, I forget the name of the process, but it keeps adding and removing virtual hard drives (xvd) from your system and making the device manager blink.
Personally that one isn't affecting me much lately so a Windows update may have alleviated that.

If that's not it then it may be something particular to your setup like a faulty device or software conflict like an input manager / audio mixer software not playing nice. So it might require a cleanout and disconnecting devices one by one to test.

Yeah, it's a brand new cables, solid click.
I've unplugged everything and device manager still blink.
My windows Update is up to date. From what I understand, the issue is from FFXIV's end.

There's an option in system settings, something along the lines of keep controller active when window is inactive, select that.

If windows steals focus for a second for some junk it's doing in the background, you can lose your gamepad control.

If disabling the windows enumerator doesn't work for you, it could be that a device in your device manager (NOT your controller) may be faulty and repeatedly resetting, which causes the device manager to refresh all device connections to try and reconnect (which only impacted ff14 for me due to it's really finicky controller detection).
I personally had this issue years ago on an older computer, if i recall correctly i ended up solving it via keeping an eye on the device manager and the computer's event logs to find what the faulty device was (it was a network printer device for me, but others have had it on other things from my old google searches), and then disabling that.

(had the same issue as one of the guys in this thread)

If that doesnt work, i got nothin man. hope you solve it tho!

OMG, I know exactly what device it is. It's a Digital Audio (S/PDIF)(High Definition Audio Device). I tried disabling it and uninstalling it. But it kept coming back!
