Pass, keep everything from outside the game outside.
Yes a tragic death, but so are many deaths.
If we get a emote for every tragic death ... you see where this is going.

I think the difference is that SE can easily do an event or a partnership when their media division already owns the license. While Disney and Square Enix collaborated for Kingdom Hearts, it's not quite the same as it was for Dragon Quest the other Final Fantasy game events, where SE definitely owns the rights to the games that were brought in and there's no copyright dispute to have.
It'd have to be done on a friendly crossover terms the way Monster Hunter/XIV did, where each game got an equal piece, or like the Garo event where it was time limited. The Mouse would probably want too much money to make it worthwhile for an MCU crossover.
That said, there's no reason that the players can't do their own in game tributes. ENTM's September challenge theme is MCU.

I don't believe Boseman has had any connection with Square Enix. When Yugiri's actress died, it was addressed by a open letter if I recall. If she only got a open letter, what makes you think Square would honor someone who not only has no connection to Final Fantasy but to the company what so ever? If anything, if he were to be honored it would be through a easter egg in a Kingdom Hearts game rather than in FFXIV.
Hello, if you're reading this, then you should know this isn't part of the post.

Cause they spent ungodly amounts of money marketing it as the first and only black superhero movie, while ignoring that black superhero movies (from both DC and Marvel) kicked off the modern era of superhero movies. There's a reason Black Panther was a cultural phenomenon.
yes and no.
Black Panther was the first Major Black Comic Book Hero published by a major comic book publisher. It was also intentionally focused on issues facing Black Americans at a time when it was controversial. So when it was made into a high budget movie, it was the first Major Black Comic Book Hero film.
Blade which is the film which started off the Comic book film rebirth in the late 90s was a side token black character in a defunct horror comic series from the 70s, Blade as a character was not a major character, nor was he in any way aimed at the Black Community when those comics were released. The film was also not a high budget film and surprised everyone with how well it took off.
As for the other successful black comic book films, MIB & Spawn, MIB was an off-brand comic although it had a bit of a cult following. Spawn on the other hand is also an off-brand hero, but was well-liked by everyone. Although Spawn was a well known Black Anti-hero, and sometimes anti-villain, He was never really a comic book superhero. Oddly Agent J in the comic book was a doopy looking white guy, well until the movie took box office. So even though the Actor was Black, he wasn't a Black Character, made for the Black Community. However thanks to good casting choices he became one.

Um, while anyone's death is regrettable, I don't think SE should bring tribute to any single person who passes away (>_<)
I for one didn't know that actor either. Not everyone is a fan or watches those movies, so it'd be odd to treat them like something that has affected all FFXIV players and would need a tribute in Eorzea.

He was an actor. There were many actors/actresses who passed this year. Every death is sad but it makes no sense to make a special tribute for him.
