Conclusion: We really like FATES, but lie to ourselves.

Fates are nice when you have a train but when you're solo and the gauge barely fill it's annoying

I think the difficulty / HP of the mobs could scale better regarding the amount of players participating in it. So if you are solo its not too slow and not too fast being in a group.
On the other hand it should give you benefits when playing in groups.. since its not a Singleplayer RPG. It still is focused on multiplayer.
