Phial of Fantasia Suggestion

I can't think of anywhere else to put this, so here it goes.

There's a problem with the current implementation of the Phial of Fantasia. You can re-customize your appearance only from the character selection menu, and the options to preview what you've picked are very limited. As such, it's happened many times where I've used a Phial of Fantasia to change something about my character, only to be completely dissatisfied after I've gotten into the game and played them for a bit. While I'm happy to give Square Enix another $10, it adds up if I'm being really picky.

Specific examples:

• If I change my character's hairstyle, there's no way to know if it will clip through my glamour until I'm back in the game.
• If I change my character's race, I have no way of knowing what the movement and combat animations are like until I'm in the game.
• If I change my character's voice, I have no idea how that voice is going to sound in the game, because of the 50-60 voice files for each one, only five are available for preview.

So what's the suggestion?

Make it so that whenever you re-customize your character, you can do it again within 24 hours if you're unsatisfied, for up to a week, total.

Are there ways around it right now? Yes, there are. You can start alts with a given appearance to see how they move, and how they sound in combat, and what given glamour pieces look like on them. You can listen to the voice files on external sites to see which ones you like and don't like.

But my feeling is that those extra steps shouldn't be necessary.

Sure, the character customization screen could be enhanced to make all these things possible, but the much easier implementation would be to let you change your appearance again.

I'm with you OP. But if they implement this then you wouldn't really need to BUY ANOTHER Fantasia to fix your mistakes. It would mean less income for them right? You think they're going to jump to do something like this? I don't. I'd love to be proven wrong though.

I could agree with this, but i'd give the user 1 hour to check themselves and make a decision, just enough time to run a trial or steamroll a dungeon and see how you look

I would argue that the Aesthetician should allow us to make more edits to our character and the fantasia should be meant only for things like changing our race or gender. Being allowed the ability to change eye color or voices for a modest in-game fee would be would be really nice.

I am also not happy by how little of the voice options you can access in character creation. Hard to tell what your character will sound while in fight based on the 4 or 5 sound clips available.

PSO2 charges for character changes and they give you a 30 minute grace period to undo them... but their interface for doing so is fast and doesn't require you to log out and back in and unequip and be in a certain zone and have cauliflower for dinner on a tuesday...

Your best bet is to make a new character with the settings you are considering and play around for a few minutes with the emotes. Then you can test /most/ features of the avatar before you actually go with the fantasia.

I'm pretty surprised there's no regret protection on Fantasia.
I'd be down to actually buy them, but without any kind of leeway I don't feel comfortable basically risking $14.
Making an alt just doesn't do it for me. That's not enough for me to really take a "new me" for a test drive.
