Specifically speaking for the United States, you have had massive wildfires on the West coast from the southern most parts of California all the way into British Columbia in Canada that have displaced a large number of residents. While I agree demolition should be turned on again eventually, now is not the time to turn it on.
I think Japan and the Philippines was hit by a few typhoons as well and the year isn't over. Later this year we'll be entering typhoon season for those living in SE-Asia.
