Rolling Tankard's 'Cannonfire' action does not cause the explosion effect on NPCs

Thread name: Rolling Tankard's 'Cannonfire' action does not cause the explosion effect on NPCs
Date of issue: August 28, 2020
    Time of issue: 8:53pm AEST
    Frequency: Always
    World name: Zodiark
    Character name: Z'aed Tia@Zodiark
    Retainer name: N/A
    NPC name: Mizutt
    Monster name: N/A
    Class/level: Alchemist/80
    Party or solo: Solo
    Race: Miqo'te male
    In-game time: 21:35
    Area and coordinates: Lakeland (X:9.4,Y:13)
    Housing: N/A
    Steps:

    1. I mounted the 'Rolling Tankard'
    2. While facing directly at the NPC 'Mizutt' I activated the Rolling Tankard's 'Cannonfire' ability
    3. The expected explosion effect was not displayed on the NPC Mizutt
    4. I have repeatedly tested the 'Cannonfire' ability on many NPCs in various zones, none have displayed the expected explosion effect.

    Additional Information

    1. I can see the explosion effect when other players use the 'Cannonfire' ability on NPCs, the explosion is only absent when I use the ability.
    2. Anecdotally, others reporting the same issue on the FFXIV subreddit seem to be located far from the data center that they play on, so latency may be a factor in triggering the bug. I am located in Australia and play on an EU datacentre.

There are 2 different tank mounts, the one that's a normal mount, and the one that a NPC puts you in for beast tribe quests. The normal mount shoots a laser, the beast tribe quest one blows stuff up.

It doesn't work for me using either version of the mount, and I'm confident that the one you buy from the dwarves is meant to have the explosion effect, since I've seen people using it outside Lakeland.

Actually they both cause the explosion effect. With the reward version, for some reason you only get the explosion effect by hitting targetable objects and NPCs with the side of the beam. I've tried it a few times; direct hits don't work. This might be info worth adding to your thread OP.

Edit: after logging in to take screenshots, it seems to be working better than before. prior to today, direct hits didn't cause the effect at all. now it seems that it's working pretty hit or miss. some direct hits will register the effect and some won't.

I should add that I tested this on several NPCs to make sure it wasn't a matter of "effect cooldown" or something. It just plain doesn't work sometimes.

I have been having this same bug, I can see everyone elses explosions, but mine aren't appearing. Using the purchasable mount

here, a few moments ago I saw a friend rolling around with it, shot their plants and caused 24 explosions
I shot the same plants, nothing. But they told me they could see it on their screen
