The POTD 180 Boss and DRK

So, I've been attempting POTD solo on DRK recently, and I've gotten quite a bit farther than I thought possible due to some decent luck with pomanders and also me being a decent player.

I checked out the rankings to see if any DRKs had beaten the upcoming floor 180 boss. It seems almost no one has, except for a DRK on Aether and a DRK on Mana. Both of these people cleared floor 200 solo on DRK.

My question to anyone willing to answer is, "How do you pull that off?"

From my own personal experience, I know that you can widdle the behemoth down to just before it starts its meteor casts up, put the Lust vulnerability stacks on it then, and then try to burst it down, but I just, even with these increased potencies I'm struggling to see how DRK will be able to do it.

I know that DRK can live through two meteors by using Living Dead for the second one, but obviously that results in having to kill it within the next 10 seconds. I know you can let your MP beef up for like 4~5 Edge of Darkness back to back on top of other oGCDs. I'm guessing that's how they did it?

I'm not sure if I'll actually make it to 180 tomorrow when I try the floorset again, but any input on besting the behemoth on DRK would be appreciated.

So it turns out, yeah, that's roughly how it's done. Only... don't forget to refresh your food, don't forget your STR pot, and then depending on where the Behemoth is in his attack loop, you may get the extra few seconds that you need. You also need to have STR pomander active, and lust him to 5 vuln stacks at 20%.

As it stands, I died from Walking Dead expiring reducing him to 4% as I keeled over. Even with my potion, I think I would have had to had good Crit/direct RNG to ensure a kill, at least from how soon he started meteor after dipping below 15% for me. I saved MP and oGCDs, and I managed to get everything off, except I should have put Salted Earth down first. Also maybe just pop CDs and stay in melee range with sustaining on as the first meteor crashes. His auto shouldn't be able to kill you if you have CDs and Steel up. Then you living dead the second meteor, and twelve willing he'll die before Walking Dead expires.

That's interesting and will inform how I do my PotD run (on 150 now).
    Good job.

Follow AngelusDemonus on Twitch who does these runs on multiple different classes. He has cleared it on multiple different classes and is happy to answer questions. I think they have a discord also.

The goal is to get the boss as close as possible to 15% with auto attacks. When it comes to tanks your food buffs actually play a huge part in this fight also.

I'd read about spinning in one of the guides, though it wasn't elaborated on. When I attempted it a couple days back, like I said in the second post, the only reason I didn't kill the Behemoth was because I disengaged thinking the auto would kill me. When I reviewed my video footage, I would have lived with rough 2500 HP after the auto. Had I not disengaged/remembered food/pot, then I would have killed it spinless on DRK, as I got it to 4% with disengaging/no food/no pot and lost 2~3 GCDs

The player "Fania Eckert" has cleared it without the spin strat, if you're interested in checking it out:
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8lF0XvVp4Fs
(Pretty much, it is possible, but there is no room for error)

Just wanted to add a few things in response to this thread. First of all, DRK was first cleared both with and WITHOUT spin strat by Allythia Nicole who did make it public (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KeML...ature=youtu.be). For the original poster's question: 15% push timings, timing of strength, lust, and resolution pomanders, adapting PVE rotations for the DD short-burst focus, and near-frame-perfect use of living dead and food toggles are among some of the keys to focus on. There are a few viable approaches, but there really is no room for error in any of them. Ally's method tries to remove crit rng but you'll still notice her LD triggering within half a second of clear. (By no means should Fania's efforts be trivialized either).

In response to the one slanderous comment, it's worth noting that while Allythia does make use of the spin strat initially on some classes, it's typically ONLY in situations where all other deep dungeon runners (Angelus, Fahros, Maygi, Miyagi, etc) have all considered a clear impossible otherwise, and ONLY to prove that it's "possible" and that it "doesn't mandate luck" (she has also cleared on almost all classes at least once WITHOUT spinning with associated videos posted of her floor 180+ clears). As someone who's supported Allythia throughout her efforts and helped her practice for more hours than most other deep dungeon runners have spent wiping, I can attest to the amount of effort and hard work she puts in clearing even without spinning - and referring to her a no-honor exploitational hack is quite frankly rude and misinformed.

Also in response to the comment against Ally. I personally don't spin myself, not because I consider it illegal in any way, but simply because it would take WAY WAY too much effort for me to rebind my keys, learn the process, switch to legacy controls, and learn the perfect angle with 250 ping as is. It's too much work for me. However, I have always been in awe of the work she puts into deep dungeon through research, theorycraft, even stepping into deep dungeon in a light party just for data purposes, without the promise of a clear on that set of floors. Moreso, because of all the time she puts into this, it's possible for regular players, like me, or even yourself to clear with jobs NOBODY expected to even clear with a year ago. I'd imagine even in your ideal scenario, where somehow spinning became impossible in the new deep dungeon (rip shb deep dungeon feels), that Allythia herself would be able to claim many firsts, because that's the kind of quality player she is.

its not like the game always stayed the same in the past years, it always got easier to do
you have more dmg now, some classes play way differently like smn and mch, more health/better food, more cc opportunity on mimics, sustain potions, better normal potions, better speed on range phys., was directhit a thing in heavensward already?; gnb selfsustain and spinn strats too

Then there was the niddhogg eye 95% mitigation bug glitch that some abused to clear it, earlier this year.

In the past people who got really high would probably have cleared it in todays conditions.
