    Do I need the 490 crafting gear?

    If I can already make the 480 gear with NQ items is there any reason to make the new crafting gear?

    Right now, no you don't.
    But if you want to be able to craft the new recipes/gear from 5.4 and beyond, then yes, you should.

    But it depend on what you're planning for the future.
    It's to prepare for future patches.
