People. We need to talk about Limit Breaks.

Most importantly, why you're not using them correctly.

Because it's irrelevant in dungeons. Yes, you can save some time and I do use them, but it doesn't matter if no one uses them. Frankly, it's not fun to pause your rotation to cast a DPS LB, especially if it's not LB3. Also, ranged LB is also not as satisfying and a bit trickier to use.

And with no LB3 in dungeon, healer LB is also mostly irrelevant other than for those (I hope) rare moments where the healer runs out of MP or something and really needs the heal.

I mean, if the tank/healer wants to use an LB in dungeons, I don't mind.

...Honestly, I do wish LB took party item level into account at least somewhat.

...And that we still had decently difficult dungeons, like pre-nerf Amdapor Keep or Pharos Sirius, where an LB could feel impactful. Those dogs on the first boss pre-nerf when there are just a few too many DoTs on the boss, man...

Doesn't it already take into account the party's average weapon item level?

And yes, higher difficulty in dungeons might make LB feel more useful, but that's obviously not the design trend.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure the DPS LB's damage potency still depends on the parties weapon ilevel. If everyone has an i500 weapon, then the LB will do more damage than a group with i485 weapons.

Still worth using a ranged LB on trash mobs imo

I mean you can just flat out say at the beginning, use the LB when it hits one bar. Or if you now you have a big pull coming up and you got a DPS rng melee/mage, let them to know the LB, etc etc. Especially in ShB dungeons, you can use the LB a lot.

However, I think SE needs to add something in the hall of the novice about LBs. Alot of times especially with sprouts and what not, LB is never touched on in the Hall of the Novice or anywhere else that I know of.

Do you know how many times I was berated at for using LB1 on the first dungeon boss? LOTS. So much that I stopped doing it.

Everyone has an opinion on what they presume is right or wrong, so I pretty much gave up on caring.

I have had situations as rdm in which I got scolded for not using lb on trash even though no one said anything to me about it. Apparently I was supposed to be psychic and know exactly what they wanted without them asking.

I have had other situations in which I asked if they want me to use a caster lb and the response has sometimes been "wtf no that's for melee to use on bosses".

And once I have seen (I was healing) in which the tank during a trash pack said "lb" the caster used it and then they said "I was talking to the other dps".

I don't think it's surpising that people often don't want to touch lb until the last boss. Not everyone has the same outlook as to when it should be used or even who should use it.

There is literally no reason at all to not use a Limit Break as soon as reasonably possible.

If the dungeon allows for pulling 2+ packs, theres no reason to melee LB anything that isnt a final boss in the last couple expansions when you can caster or ranged LB the trash, which saves significantly more time, and more cooldowns.
