You need to give up on XI-2

Business works like politics, people are loving him for his current small fixes that might not actually be his, and LOVING him for his campaign promises that 2.0 will cure cancer and world hunger. I'd rather shake the hand of the person who has the good ideas instead of just the person who has veto power.

2.0 will tell us if he is worthy of some praise, but I'll still praise his team more. The people who raise him up on their shoulders already, before he has delivered, are people who have fallen for the promises before they're a reality.

Listen to Gramul people. He is exactly right. FFXI's glory days are long since gone. We don't want the crap that's been added recently, I'm not going to exactly say when it went down the tubes as i'm sure we all have our own 2 cents about that. We just want the nice and exciting zones, the beautiful music, and that special experience and relationship to the world.

While he has done a good job... I wouldn't call him an "amazing director" just yet...
We still have yet to see the bulk of his contribution.
Also, he has some proven and tested final fantasy developers on his staff...
He may end up proving his greatness... 2.0 will definitely be quite a barometer... but right here, right now, calling him "amazing" is jumping the gun a little...

Rydin and I agree/disagree on fundamentals but I always believe that he brings up good points. This is one of them and one that we share.

The fans are putting a ton of unrealistic emphasis on 2.0. I know that part of it has to do with the common response of "...in 2.0..." but we let our imaginations run wild. I really hope people keep expectations realistic. No, realistic is not "I'm a paying customer and I DEMAND my socks be blown off" - that's entitlement. Hope for the best, expect better than now, and be prepared for something in between.

It's funny how everyone was crying that the game was so broken, then S-E announces 2.0 with a long list of drastic changes and only the XI fanboys keep saying how it will suck or that it's no big deal. Yet whenever they talk it sounds like they haven't even read half the documentation, they just skipped over everything that didn't sound like XI port.... which is pretty much everything.

On the contrary, 2.0 sounds a lot like they took the good components of XI and brought them back while implementing good ideas from other games with some original content (probably not original, tbh.)

Since this game technically has 2 FFXI directors still on staff (Even without Tanaka, we still have Akihiko Matsui and Nobuaki Komoto) there is going to be FFXI ideas all throughout. Just how much... Well that's Yoshi's call... And I am ok with that
If you either want all FFXI or None of FFXI then you are probably setting yourself up for disappointment... but if you'd like the devs to find a happy medium... and have an open mind.. you just might enjoy what comes
