    I just think it would be cool to have a healer that is not so heavily based on magical spells. The current three are.

    Also the other two roles do have more technologically themed classes, and those are gunbreaker and machinist. So why not one for the healer role as well?

    I've never seen that job before because I don't play other FFs, but the mere concept of it doesn't really appeal to me.
    Let's see how it is once it's announced (if the 5.3 hints turn out to be true).

    Why does everyone want Chemist as a new job?

    Because they want a healer job for next expac and if they have to pick a job for that role, chemist is a popular choice and it fits.

    First of all, it's too similar to the DOH Alchemist with the whole potion-crafting theme.

    You are correct about that...and that's the only thing too. SE has continuously taken jobs from other FFs and made it something of their own and I don't believe for a second they will do any different with chemist. Potion crafting will probably be the only common point they will share with alchemist and something tells me even that won't share the same animations.

    Let's look at it another way: with the current state of the jobs right now already sharing several homegenous skills and traits, should that really exempt chemist from coming to fruition just because another job--a crafting job at that--does something similar?

    Second, what acronym would you even give it?

    CHM/CMT

    Thirdly, wouldn't it just be another ping-based job like ninja if they do the mix function?

    Answer is the same as point #2

    Fourth, what role would the chemist even be?

    I'm all for Chemist/Apothecary for a new healer job, even if I probably won't actually play it myself. I feel like any Healing gear they add that's designed more toward it will mesh really well with SCH gear, the same way DNC and BRD-aesthetic Aiming gear meshes well (though, honestly, SCH isn't a robe-wearing job, either, and we still have to put up with all the hideous potato sacks, but maybe having a second combat medic-type job will even the field a little).

    Big difference between using potions as a medical expert and making them. Car manufacturers are not the same as race car drivers. Alchemist barely deals in medicine that we as a player can use anyway, with potions being largely useless outside of PotD.

    Robes are not my cup of tea or style, and I'd rather be a mage running around in very casual wear (like a t shirt and pants) which also fits a magic user as it's not heavy armor. I like when the game experiments with different styles of gear.

    1: most folks want another Healer.
    2: Having more Tech based classes is a real desire.
    3: It's something in other FF games, and would work here if they can figure out a few minor details.
    4: Tech based Healer, not a magic one means they can have looks that are not robes for male players. ie Doctors smock instead of robes.
    5: They could give the class a squirt gun for healing.
