Why does everyone rush so quickly in this game?

This game is absolutely gorgeous, and it is disappointing that so many people rush through the main scenario, rush through the dungeon even if it's their first time, rush through a raid as if their work performance depended on their speed of clearing it.

I sigh every time I enter a dungeon and the tank pops sprint and rushes off immediately. I don't understand how people can rush through the content so quickly! It's absolutely gorgeous and by rushing through it, you're disrespecting the tremendous amount of effort and time poured in by the artists. There are so many details in this game that just go unnoticed. It is truly a pity.

I would like to ask everyone to join me in slowing down and really appreciating the content the game has to offer, and to ponder over every little detail on August 23rd. I declare it the No Rush Eorzea Day, and I hope everyone can slow down that day and appreciate the content Please spread the word!

People rush through the game so they can get back to the official forums to spam tons of random topics and get a rise out of people, of course!

If someone wins an argument, they have learned nothing.

Most of us have done those dungeons gazillion times. Novelty wears of after few runs. After that they are just boring and there to serve you experience, nothing else

If so, that is truly a pity. I myself always slow down and pull one pack at a time so I can have time to take pictures of the dungeon and read the lore entries (like the ones in the Gubal Library).

That's disappointing but an easy way to fix it is to be mindful and respectful of newcomers' time. They deserve to explore and enjoy the content too. It will only slow down the dungeon by a few minutes, but the enjoyment they get out of it could be double or even triple than if they were forced to rush ahead.

I can't speak for anybody else but my first run of a dungeon I always take it slow. With only one new dungeon per patch these days it's always tied to the MSQ so I try to get the most out of it I can. After that, it depends on the party, but given most parties have top-end gear there's no harm in sprinting through (and nobody ever complains unless you've got a green healer in Aurum Vale).

People rush through dungeons because of the nature of the game - as an MMO, you get some mileage out of content but then it becomes a chore. If 5.4 isn't released until later in the year (Nov - Dec) as rumored, Akademia Anyder will have been on EX Roulette for almost an entire year; there's only so many times you can run it and still care about anything other than the rewards at the end. The same goes for any piece of content - I mean no disrespect to newbies, but I don't care about Brayflox' Longstop anymore because I've done it a dozen times in every role. There's nothing new to see, so I'm more interested in getting it done.

(That said if I'm playing a DPS class I have no room to complain, since green tanks and/or healers will slow the thing down regardless... but I digress.)

But what about the new players? They're more interested in exploring and enjoying the content. The worst culprit is the Praetorium where everything dies in seconds after watching a minute-long cutscene. It was anticlimactic and if people slowed down new players will actually be able to enjoy that dungeon like it was truly an epic final dungeon!
