It kinda already is, storywise. A good portion of the fights can be solo'd or duo'd unsynced. Anyone who wants to see the story from it can easily throw up a PF advertising an unsynced run of new player bonus, and chances are pretty high they'll get a couple people to steamroll the fights with to see the cutscenes. It's what I did with a friend when I first returned to the game, we 3-manned all coil fights at 70, it'll be even easier nowadays at 80.
The Turns also show up on Wondrous Tails on occasion, so filling them up isn't a hassle at all if the story is all you're after.
