Yoshi put out the cap for materia stats when the system came out. The cap is 10*(Max Lvl IV). So manathirst caps at 350 MP, which increase your mana per tick by 26.25.
I'm a GSM and play with manathirst all the time, because it is so frigggin cheap. Once you get you MP over 4000, your mana regen is fast enough, you have to be rather reckless to run out. Even if you run out, you get roughly 100+ Mp a second standing still and even more with a bard's magi. In a full group you get a 10% bonus to mp, which furthers increases this mana regen.
The compounded fact that you have more mana to burn and get more mana regening, stacking manathirst really increases your casting endurance. Try it, you should be able to get manathirst gear really cheap...

you wont gain speed with having to cast more spells though. less spells that hit harder are ideal, i have no mp materia and no no mp issues, i have mega ethers on macro that i rarely even need. Thundaga for instance has a fairly long cool-down, you are only gonna get to cast it a couple times on a boss so you have to focus on potency not extra mp.Yoshi put out the cap for materia stats when the system came out. I guess if you could actually get 550 mp on your gear it would be more beneficial to whm then blm.
Anyways, back to materia reform. Since there has been 3 rep comments and none have touched on this can we please get NQ and HQ, not grade 4, version 1 2 3 and 4. Also combine 2 of each resist materia to make it one materia, that would eliminate half the resist materia which would eliminate half the npc garbage materia I get.
I find it absolutely absurd that in the same patch when we got item reform they gave us another inventory killer.
People are allowed an opinion, its just some can't tell the difference between an opinion and whining. The whining I've been reading
on this thread =/= productive feedback. Especially since Ruk's reply a few pages ago. "Please, devs, tell me, I'd like to know exactly how that's possible, I think that's bs, pms moan complain sarcasm". These forums are a black pit of negativity.
These forums are a black pit of negativity due to the game having so many faults, I think with ever patch that negativity dissipates a little bit.
I looked but can't find it. It was posted on the forums when materia came out, so it is deep within the forum. I could spend days trying to dig it out. If you want to find it, I suggest you search Yoshi's posts.

It was actually before materia came out... and it was a random example of Vitality materia (and therefore HP) cap.... but the values of the materia, once implemented didn't really match up with the values given in the example... so it could very much not be relevant...
Unless someone else has done some testing since then or found some dev post since that has clarified anything (Which is possible... my word is definitely not absolute)
There was a list of what each caps at.
I did some digging and I found this. How this helps.
