    I just want them to lighten up on all the silly slot requirements for materia.... or have no slot requirements entirely.

    I was hoping materia would have more customization than it currently does. Not being able to meld things where we want and being confined to the same 2 or so slots... not so much unique to how we make it if everybody else is confined to melding in the exact same places too.

    It's a lot easier to balance this way and even you can agree it would be overpowering if you can slot any materia in any slot on any class/job gear.

    What's the point of materia anyway? Everyone just uses the same materia as everyone else, so it's not like it creates diversity or customisation as advertised. It's basically just a replacement to the age old HQ +3 process, only it takes up inventory space and is even more devastatingly dependent on Random Number Generator. I just personally never saw what the point of Materia was from the vantage point of the devs.

    Obviously it's just such a nightmare to balance to the point where they have to be incredibly restrictive about it. And the restrictions that make it balanced are the same restrictions that make it redundant. Waste of dev time.

    I can't believe they made all recipes dated and spent several patches of development just for this. Oh well, that's their prerogative I guess.

    The entire materia system could have been so much better, could have been like 7 where you level it up and get new abilities, extra stats, higher %, etc. I feel like they realized that we realized how pointless some materia is and in order to slow us down in obtaining the current best gear they decided to add more random materia to further decrease the chances of getting what we actually want from spirit bonding. Also while buffing enmity materia because mathematically it is the easiest to show how "near" useless it and due to slot restrictions only really one slot is usable, they tried to instill confidence in us that they are going to fix materia all together, but then they go and state MP materia is good and won't be buffed as an example.

    People are allowed an opinion, its just some can't tell the difference between an opinion and whining.

    These forums are a black pit of negativity due to the game having so many faults, I think with ever patch that negativity dissipates a little bit.

    Yoshi put out the cap for materia stats when the system came out. The cap is 10*(Max Lvl IV). So manathirst caps at 350 MP, which increase your mana per tick by 26.25.

    I'm a GSM and play with manathirst all the time, because it is so frigggin cheap. Once you get you MP over 4000, your mana regen is fast enough, you have to be rather reckless to run out. Even if you run out, you get roughly 100+ Mp a second standing still and even more with a bard's magi. In a full group you get a 10% bonus to mp, which furthers increases this mana regen.

    The compounded fact that you have more mana to burn and get more mana regening, stacking manathirst really increases your casting endurance. Try it, you should be able to get manathirst gear really cheap...

    you wont gain speed with having to cast more spells though. less spells that hit harder are ideal, i have no mp materia and no no mp issues, i have mega ethers on macro that i rarely even need. Thundaga for instance has a fairly long cool-down, you are only gonna get to cast it a couple times on a boss so you have to focus on potency not extra mp.

    I guess if you could actually get 550 mp on your gear it would be more beneficial to whm then blm.
