Which Fates for Yo-Kai Watch Event?

I know you can open the book that tells you which zone to go to for specific weapon medallions.. can you do *ANY* fate in that zone, or are there special event-specific ones?

Someone please correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm fairly certain any fate will suffice.

If you are collecting regular medals to buy minions, then any fate in any zone should work(possibly not shadowbringers fates - havent tested). Make sure you are wearing the yokai watch bracelet, and you should get a medal for every fate.

If you are collecting legendary medallions for weapons, then the zone needs to match what is written in the yokai book your character has. The minion whos weapon you want must be out during the fate. You dont need the watch unless you are also still farming medals for more minions. If you are in one of the right zones and have the minion out, then any fate that spawns should work. The only one i would question is the bomb vs shark fate at costa del sol for the moonfire event still going on. Early results seem to show the legendary medals with a drop rate around 40%.

And if you collect enough to meet the conditions for one of the 3 mounts(13 minis for ghost, 13 weapons for glow in the dark ghost, 17 weapons for cat couch), these are considered achievement mounts. So you dont get them from the yokai guy in the gold saucer, you get them from the achievement guy in gridania. They really trimmed down the grinding compared to last time this was active, so theres no real need to rush. If we consider 40% to be the true drop rate, then you can get the entire event from scratch in a little over 400 fates stretched out over the next 4 months or so. If you were doing the 10 fate challenge log entry for exp every week, youre already halfway there. Side note, if you need to level up your chocobo companion this is also great. You should get the 2 chocobo challenges fairly easy, and if youre doing fates close to your level your bird should get ok exp.

So my advice is take it slow, level up some alt classes, give your birds some attention, and you should have any rewards you desire in no time. Did i mention not to rush? Dont rush it. Personal story. I ignored the event the first time out, getting only a single mini and glamour weapon. Then i got kinda jealous of the people who had the glowy mount. When it came back i swore i wouldnt cave in, and i ignored it. They announced the end date about a month before hand. Over the next 2 weeks i slowly talked myself into grinding out a glowy mount for the most petty of reasons. In the last 2 weeks that event was live i did over 1000 fates. I leveled DRK from a fresh unlock(30) all the way into the mid 60s in the process(stopping once for a gear upgrade at 50, since all the fates i was doing were in ARR zones and i would always be at a level sync lower then that). I was so burnt out at the end(stupid glowy mount that i do in fact have) i couldnt force myself to log in for the next month+ and if i remember right i missed participating in a seasonal event because of this. You may be looking at potentially less then half as many fates, but this is still a serious threat to burn someone out if they force grind and rush it. So decide on a goal, and take your time. Space it out. Trust me.

Yes any will suffice even the ones you start yourself from a NPC all that matters is what minion is with you and how good you are on rng.
