This would negate all the thrill, you would know something happens ... which kills the mood right away.

You mention the Fanti death scene, if you had a "something bad happens now" prompt, you could tell right away ... well hes dead, lets see how he dies.
also if the prompt would not pop up on a fake out, stuff like Thancred would not work ...

I think it could be implemented in a way where that wouldn't happen. If it's an option in some menu to turn on the notices you have to opt-in to, then if you never opt-in, nothing changes and you aren't spoiled or warned before scenes like that occur.

I'm sorry you were traumatized. I'm not sure if SE will implement trigger warnings, but as a community, we can keep track of what are some of the more triggering moments in the game and try to warn one another beforehand.

Only scene I would agree to do something like this for would be the scene in ShB during the whole storyline with Tesleen.

    You know the one.

That was brutal and was quite jarring with how it was animated compared to the rest of the game.

Everything else is pretty basic of a game like this and is heavily censored so while it's unfortunate these things are upsetting you, I'm not really sure anything realistically can be done about it, especially with how common things like character death in video games are, and how the developers are clearly intending to make an impact with the story beats. Seeing these things coming with some warning would ruin a lot of it.

Warnings would take away the surprise and impact of the scenes, thus killing the intention of the whole thing.

If anything should be done, then make it an option in the menu so people affected by such things can get the warning & spoiler to be prepared.
Maybe have a little sign in the clock bar to indicate that warnings are on/off so you dont forget to turn it off/on depending on how you want to experience the fellowing stuff.

I don't remember this, or any other NPC death events, not that they would have affected me in any way though.

Oh look, a troll post once again. Though I fell for it, I still want to point out that if you are someone who has a mental disorder/handicap, it doesn't make you weak. There are tons of good resources out there to reach out to in order to get help.

While I know this is just a Titanmen troll thread, I think it would benefit some to note that there is no evidence showing that trigger warnings actually help. In fact, there is mounting evidence that they may actually harm the mental state of those suffering from trauma, PTSD, and even those who aren't suffering by potentially pushing them towards a more fragile state of mind. They can create and/or reinforce the idea that the trauma is central to one's identity and even prevent healing as well.

"We found that trigger warnings did not help trauma survivors brace themselves to face potentially upsetting content," said lead researcher Payton Jones, a doctoral candidate in clinical psychology at Harvard University. "In some cases, they made things worse."

Trigger warnings seem to increase the extent to which people see trauma as central to their identity, which can exacerbate cases of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) in the long run, Jones and his colleagues found.

"We found evidence that trigger warnings increased the extent to which trauma survivors saw their worst event as central to their life story," Jones said. "Seeing trauma as central to one's life is not a good thing."
The researchers found that being exposed to trigger warnings caused participants to rate both themselves and others as more vulnerable to developing PTSD. Trigger warnings led to no self-reported differences in anxiety between the two groups overall, but for participants who already held the belief that “words cause harm,” trigger warnings led to an increase in anxiety.
    https://www.usnews.com/news/health-n...od-study-finds

So what about people who actually might be, you know, triggered by the material? Jones’ latest paper addresses just that question. The methods are the same as the 2018 paper, but with a pool of 451 participants who had experienced trauma. (A consent form required for ethical purposes did require that participants acknowledge that they would be reading emotional material, Jones told me, which is sort of a trigger warning all on its own but a required step of the process). In this population, trigger warnings still failed to lessen the emotional distress from reading a passage. The authors also found evidence, they wrote, that trigger warnings “countertherapeutically reinforce survivors’ view of their trauma as central to their identity.” Though more evidence is needed to say for sure, their research suggests that trigger warnings could be actively harmful to the very people for whom they are meant.
    https://slate.com/technology/2019/07...ight-hurt.html

“Trigger warnings don’t seem to help, and they can produce temporary anxiety,” says Richard McNally, professor and director of clinical training in the Harvard University psychology department. “The take-home message is that people underestimate their resilience.”

Now, while I don't think SE should be playing the role of psychologist and doing exposure therapy on people, I also don't think they should be adding potentially harmful items such as trigger warnings either. If you're suffering to a point where scenes such as those described by the Titanmen stand in in the OP describes triggers you, it would be more prudent for you to seek psychological help from a professional than anything else.

Note: Taking advice from a players alt, is like taking advice from a voice in a dark room. Criticism is a two way street remember that!!
