    General questions about classes

Hello everyone, new here so greetings to you all.
I have this question at the back of my mind. I am not so young player anymore,
and moves and reactions are not so fast. I was wondering does every class need
to press buttons crazy fast to perform they openers or later rotation ? I know that for normal gameplay this is not relevant, but for high end content ( which i would like to play ) is kinda mandatory to perform at your best. Bit worried, and here my question. Does some classes play slower, or can you overcome this by lots of learning and beating to a pulp those poor dummies to play class what you want ?
Thanks in advance for any pointers, and sorry if some grammar mistakes, not my native language

Your best bet would be BLM. They are your traditional, long cast time mage. Not many buttons to weave in between.

Are you talking about APM (Action per minute) ?

Most job aren't crazy when it comes to APM.
BLM has one of the slowest rotation and no crazy opener, RDM is very friendly too.
If you aim to play ranged, DNC would be your best bet.
If you aim to play melee, DRG is the most friendly.

Avoid SAM, MNK, MCH and BRD, they might go a bit fast for you.

I would say dont play dancer as our damage depends on how you manage your resources and weaving feathers inbetween gcds, also you need to properly perform steps in quick succession.

If you practice your rotation on your job on a dummy to commit that to muscle memory it will be definitely easier since you can look at the boss and their cast timers while reflexively playing. Jobs that don't require procs as much would be the go-to - except those jobs generally have a lot more button pressing to do. Jobs that don't spam buttons generally require more skill and finesse - such as BLM or WHM - because majority of BLM is dependent on optimizing how you tackle the incoming damage by positioning yourself or moving to someone else to continue attacking more. Black Mage still has procs but in the later stages you don't rely on thundercloud procs as much, mostly for movement or refreshing the damage buff since it does less damage than Fire IV.

WHM as a healer has a very simple pattern for damage - Glare and Dia until the enemy dies. With less mobility tools at their disposal, they have to make all their weaves count. However, they spend most of their energy on the boss and reacting to damage instead when first learning the fight. Depending on how much reactive play you want, healers may not be the go-to.

Speaking as someone who enjoys the opposite, jobs that play as fast as possible....

I'd recommend dragoon since one of the things I disliked most about playing it is how SLOW the job is (especially compared to a job like monk)

Summoner also isn't too bad as far as casters go, and if speed is a concern, it has a bit more mobility than a job like black mage, letting you be a bit more reactive to situations than black mage, which requires you to be more proactive in positioning yourself.

I also agree with the sentiment as far as ranged to go avoid machinist since it requires a lot of button presses, especially during hypercharge phases.

In terms of slower jobs, Dragoon, Black Mage, White Mage, Scholar, and most tanks that aren't Gunbreaker should be sufficiently slow.

Classes to definitely avoid would be Monk, Ninja, Samurai, Bard, and perhaps machinist and Summoner. Notably, i mention all of the melee DPS classes besides Dragoon because they all get GCD steroids that speed up their attack speed and tend to have a decent amount of oGCDs. Dragoon on the other hand gets no GCD steroids, and they don't really double weave oGCDs since their jumps are all too long for that, so they remain fairly slow even at max level.

my suggest is that you try every job and pick the one the you like the most, not the one you think is easy for you.

I play samurai since stormblood and never main on other job ever since. I play samurai so much now I think is the easiest job because every skill rotation has become a muscle memory.

Switched to drg for couple of weeks, only to realize that my brain resisted to learn new job rotation and drg became a very difficult job to learn.

So if i were you i will try out every jobs and pick the one i love the most. Dont worry too much of difficulties and such, you will master it eventually.

For now i'm focusing on Bard and playing through main story. I was playing this class before on other account wich i lost, thats why it was my first pick. But back then it was called "bowmage" or something like that, and gameplay was nice and slow Now it's a bit more hectic but i think i'm improving myself, with opener and general rotation. The biggest problem i have now is that i focus too much on looking at hotbars than noticing what boss is doing, and when i'm looking at boss i forgot to press f.e bloodletter when it resets or dots dissapear.

    Alternatively, try playing a healer.
    Maybe give tanking a shot.
