I find it weird that no elementals appear in Rak'tika Greatwood. The only reference we see of them at all was that cave mural in Qitana Ravel....depicting Hydaelyn & Zodiark as elementals.

It definitely implies that whatever reason they're so active in the Shroud came post-Sundering.

Is it just to hide Amdapor? Do we know if they were so active before the War of the Magi?

Comparing the situation on the source to the shards is hard to do, simply due to the sheer number of calamities that have utterly decimated the source as a result of the rejoinings means that most circumstances on the Source are a result of its unique situation. For all we know the Elementals may only manifest on the source the way they do due to those special circumstances.
