Can we go back to original FFXIV for raids again

The thing about Coils and Sky Pirates is that they felt deeply tied into the XIV story. They weren't just rip offs of other games locations for the sake of crossovers.

Don't get me wrong, the Crystal Tower raids does this right. Even Alexander tied much better into the world despite not being as relevant as the coils were. All these places forever change XIV and are tieed deeply into the lore.

However.. this trend starting with Ivalice is ruining the immersion for me. As much as I love Nier Automata I want to go to NEW places that expand the story better. At least Eden is heavily tied into the mysteries of the flood of light. Although I Alice has helped expand Garlemald war and the espers a bit, I just hope we get a mysterious new place next time.

Agreed. I really don't enjoy Omega/Ivalice/NieR for this reason, it's just a bit too heavy handed.

As a pretty hardcore fan of FF franchise i love the crossover stuff from a nostalgia point of view but i can agree with the points of want something original.

Eh, when they tried being "original" I really didn't care for the result. Void Ark, Weeping City and Dun Scaith left a lot to be desired. They had their moments, sure, but I was very underwhelmed by that series. And for the record, immersion went out the window years ago and it wasn't Ivalice and Nier that caused it. lol

Personally didn't have much issue with the HW raids but I can understand they weren't everyone's cup of tea.

Immersion is long dead, and it was murdered. I don't mind going back to more FFish themes, but the Crystal Tower and the Sky Pirates were some of the blandest and disconnected stories to date in the game (in my humble opinion). I honestly couldn't remember any of the major character names in either of them. I actually had to look up who Graha is after that one Exarch scene. Crystal Tower now has the benefit of being written into the MSQ, which is nice. Still doesn't really make the original story that much better for me.

But I guess that's more about the execution, not the theme.

Agreed. Raids need to be more for world building, not world copy-pasting. That being said, i think Nier gets a pass as its based in the first and not in the source.

I like Nier. I thnk it's pretty awesome as a crossover. I'm not opposed to more direct FF related content if it's well done.

I didn't like the Sky Pirate story. The lore infos about Mhach and so on were interesting, but I didn't care at all for the actual NPCs.
Thus said, I'm still for more "FFXIV" raids and other content. I think it's a good mix though. Sure, two alliance raid sets in a row were partial crossovers, but we have the 8-man raids, trials and other sidequests to make up for it. Also, those things that are taken from other FF games (or even the Nier stuff) is usually integrated into the lore pretty well, instead of being completely detached from it.
I really want to visit new regions of the original FFXIV world as well though - I really liked that about the new weapon sidequest, and the resistance quest.

What about Omega wasn't easily tied in with FFXIV story? Like, sure, Omega simulated fights from other FF locations and bosses directly, but the actual story behind the raid tied in rather well with XIV and the dragons and their origins and things. It was no different than tying the Warring Triad from 6 in as strong primals.
