Thread: It's time to nerf the 5.3 mystery trial

There are too many "make one mistake and the whole party wipes" mechanics in this fight. For example, everyone fails the Active Time Event if just one person cannot do it. Also, if the tank forgets to use LB, everyone immediately dies as well. This fight is way overtuned compared to the 5.2 trial (which was Ruby Weapon). I know there are hardcore gamers out there smirking and thinking I'm such a bad player, thinking that this isn't a matter of overtuning and is a matter of me being bad. Just to prove you wrong, know that I cleared the Puppet's Bunker in the first day of the patch so I know what I'm doing. A trial shouldn't have so many instant party wipe mechanics. I think having instant death mechanics are fine but having the whole party just die? No.

There is a trend of this game becoming more and more hardcore and I'm not liking it. The 5.0 trial also had instant party wipe mechanics (the doom puddles). That one was more forgiving though because not all 8 people have to take a doom puddle so a few people can make a mistake and you can still clear. But now all 8 people have to know how to break free of the chains otherwise you wipe. That's just too far. If I wanted hardcore content I would be playing The Last of Us II. I'm playing FF14 for the story not to experience instant party wipe mechanics if just one person out of 8 don't know how to do it.

I wouldn't defend them or miss them if they were gone, but is it bad that I find their topics amusing?

When I went to listen to Titania's music on youtube, there was a comment from someone who made a parody with the lyrics. Something along the lines of:

"The knockback is near
one tank in the rear
i'm screaming in fear
fa la la la la!"

Amusing as it was, I immediately knew that this comment came from someone well acquainted with the mechanics specific to the EX version of the fight. I don't advocate trolling by any means, but there are trolls out there who - I don't even know how to put it... do it 'right', I guess?

Take this one as an example; it's not like he's wrong because all he is doing is giving an opinion. Whether it's truly his or not doesn't really matter. And he is right about the trial where if one player fails, then you have to start over. While it isn't any more difficult than any other mid trial event, the fact that instead of filling up a gauge, you are preventing it from hitting zero can catch some players off guard.

In that regard, I am curious if the dev team designed the fight so that everyone must be alive at that point in the fight (considering how bad it sucks to be dead during an ATE). Every time I have done it thus far, if someone is dead, we fail. I'm not sure about that though.

The QTE brings the dead people back to do the event, which is probably why its failed, since they arent paying attention being dead.

It was more to point out that, in many of his threads, hes basically poking fun at the casual playerbase by asking for easy fights (not talking about this one), more causal content, less raiding content, less crafting content etc. (All I've ever seen his alts do is craft and gather, to the point I suspect hes a bot, but can't prove it so...)

Ultimate clears are not a big deal though. If you have time then you can clear. Even among ultimate cleared raiders there is a huge difference in skill level. Just having a clear means not a whole lot.
