Probably an issue with the surround. Voices play through the "center" speaker, and if your surround settings don't have that set right, you don't hear voices well.

Can confirm the issue has to do with Surround Settings. I upgraded my headset to a Razer Nari and the metallic echo has been a bugbear ever since.
You need to go into Synapse and go into the Audio Tab and then Mixer settings. This window has all your current programs that use the PC's sound, with an Output dropdown box. Change that box to Stereo and you eliminate the metallic noise.
The THX Environmental Surround sounds really damn good with positional audio placement, But they need to fix that echo.
